Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan and is already available on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Those versions launched on May 19, 2026, with Premium Edition early access starting May 15. The official availability page lists PlayStation 5 as coming later in 2026, but does not give a specific PS5 release date.
Where is Forza Horizon 6 set?
Forza Horizon 6 takes place in Japan. Playground Games revealed the setting on September 25, 2025, describing a Horizon Festival destination that brings together urban and rural scenery, mountains, and Japanese car culture. It is a designed, condensed interpretation of the country—not a mile-for-mile recreation.
Design director Torben Ellert told Xbox Wire that the team aimed to capture the essence of Japan in a smoother, condensed world. The official product description names Tokyo, surrounding countryside, and port and industrial areas among its environments. Playground Games’ Japan reveal and Xbox Wire’s interview with the developers provide more detail.
A new starting point for the festival
In the publisher’s description of the game’s opening, players arrive as tourists dreaming of attending the Horizon Festival. Ellert says the initial experience includes a drive in the 2025 GR GT Prototype, followed by off-roading in the Alps and a race against the Shinkansen. The official reveal also names the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser as a cover car.
