When does Forza Horizon 6 come out?
Playground Games announced May 19, 2026, as the release date for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Premium Edition early access scheduled to start May 15. Since both dates are now past, consult the Xbox listing or the relevant platform store for current availability and edition terms.
The January 22 announcement said a PlayStation 5 version would arrive later in 2026. That was a future release plan at the time, not confirmation of its current status; check the live PlayStation Store listing for the latest information. The official FAQ also said Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could play on May 19 at no additional cost under those plans, and described the Premium Upgrade as an early-access route. Current subscription access and upgrade terms should be verified before purchase.
Forza says purchases on Xbox Series X|S or Microsoft Store on Windows—not Steam—support Xbox Play Anywhere and shared save and DLC entitlements. Its features page also describes cross-play and cross-save across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PS5, and Steam. These are platform-specific distinctions, so check the current listing for the store and edition you intend to use.

How big is the Forza Horizon 6 map?
There is no official total area figure in the reviewed announcements: Playground Games has not stated the map’s square kilometres, square miles, acreage, or total driveable area. The studio calls it the largest map in Horizon yet, while the April 8, 2026 map reveal describes it as the series’ densest and most vertical map. Those are qualitative descriptions, not a published measurement.
What the five-times figure means
Playground Games says Tokyo City is five times larger than Forza Horizon 5’s Guanajuato. That comparison is specifically between those two urban areas; it does not mean the entire Forza Horizon 6 map is five times the size of Forza Horizon 5’s world.

What is the Forza Horizon 6 map like?
The setting is Japan, with a world that spans urban and rural environments, modern and traditional scenery, and seasonal variation. The official reveal runs from Tokyo City to the snowy Japanese Alps. It names roads inspired by Tokyo’s C1 loop and Gingko Avenue, as well as mountain routes including Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma.
The combination of city streets, mountain passes, snow, and seasonal changes gives a clearer sense of the map’s variety than an unreported area estimate would. However, the official descriptions do not establish a numerical total for the playable world.

Which platforms and editions were announced?
The January 2026 announcement named Xbox Series X|S and PC for the May 19 launch, with PS5 planned later in 2026. The Xbox Ireland listing identifies Playground Games as developer, Xbox Game Studios as publisher, and lists Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11. Because the announced dates have passed, platform support and current availability are best confirmed directly with each store.
Xbox Wire Japan separately announced a packaged Xbox edition for May 19, 2026. That announcement concerns the Japan market; it does not establish that a physical edition is available in every region.

What has Playground Games said about the game?
In a January 22, 2026 Xbox Wire interview, Playground Games Design Director Torben Ellert described the series’ appeal this way: “And ultimately, that is what Horizon games are for me. They’re about freedom, and they’re about fun, and they’re about beauty, and they’re about community. Forza Horizon 6 is about giving people the ability to go where they want to go in beautiful machines, in a beautiful place, in a fun, approachable game with their friends.”
The January announcement also said the game would have more than 550 cars at launch. That is the announced launch-roster figure, rather than a statement about the roster after any later additions.
