When did Forza Horizon 6 release on PC and Xbox?
Playground Games announced January 22, 2026, that Forza Horizon 6 would have its standard release on May 19 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game launched on that date through the Xbox app and Steam on PC, as well as on Xbox Series X|S. The official announcement and launch post confirm the dates and platforms.
Premium Edition early access began May 15, four days before the standard release. This was early access to the full game, not a separate standard launch date. Playground Games’ rollout details also said Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, along with Standard or Deluxe owners, could buy the Premium Upgrade to get early access and its included extras.
Where can you play it now?
The current official Forza Horizon 6 page lists the game as playable on Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam. On PC, the May 19 launch announcement specified availability through the Xbox app and Steam. The game is also included with active Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions at no additional cost, according to the launch post.

The official page describes a PlayStation 5 version as coming later in 2026, but does not specify a release date. No more precise PS5 date is established there.
What kind of game is Forza Horizon 6?
Set in Japan, Forza Horizon 6 is an open-world racing game built around a road trip, festival progression, exploration, cars, houses, landmarks, and collecting. Playground Games describes Tokyo City as the largest urban area in a Horizon game and calls the map the series’ largest, with varied biomes and verticality. Those size comparisons are the developer’s descriptions, not independently measured rankings. The studio’s announcement frames the player’s arrival this way: “When you first arrive in Japan, you don’t start as a Superstar of the Festival, or a racing champion.”

Playground Games announced a launch roster of more than 550 cars. The announcement named the 2025 GR GT Prototype and 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser as cover cars, and said the GR GT Prototype would make its video-game debut in Forza Horizon 6.
What editions and early-access options were available?
Premium Edition owners could start playing May 15. The Premium Upgrade offered the same early-access eligibility to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, as well as owners of the Standard or Deluxe Edition. The official rollout article lists these Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade extras:
