Forza Horizon 6’s first Premium Expansion launches on January 21, 2027, across all platforms. Playground Games has confirmed it will add a new location, vehicles and gameplay, but has not revealed where it takes place or what those additions are. The release date is official; the first real hint at what the expansion will look like has yet to arrive.
When does the first Forza Horizon 6 expansion come out?
The first Premium Expansion is scheduled to launch on January 21, 2027, across all platforms, according to Playground Games’ October 8, 2026 announcement. The official Forza Horizon 6 page also lists the expansion for that date.

That is not the same as the PS5 base-game release date. The PS5 Standard and Deluxe editions launch on January 26, 2027, while PS5 Premium Edition early access begins January 21. The PS5 version will also be available on disc at supporting retailers.
Has Playground Games revealed what the expansion will look like?
Not yet. Playground Games has confirmed only that the expansion will add a new location, vehicles and gameplay. Neither the setting nor any specific cars, activities or features have been named in the official announcement or the Steam listing.
#1 Best Overall
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.
- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
- JOIN THE HORIZON COMMUNITY — Race, cruise, and compete with friends in Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, Car Meets, and Horizon multiplayer modes, including Spec Racing Championships.
That means there is no confirmed visual or thematic clue to interpret yet. Any prediction about the destination, map, vehicle roster or gameplay would be speculation, not an announced detail.
How can you get Expansion 1?
Playground Games says the expansion will be available on its own or included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle. Steam states that Expansion 1 requires Forza Horizon 6, so buying the add-on alone does not replace the base game.

What else is planned for January?
A free content update is planned alongside the PS5 launch and the expansion. Playground Games has not yet detailed what that update contains, so it should be treated as separate from the expansion’s confirmed additions of a new location, vehicles and gameplay.
