Is Forza Motorsport 6: Apex free on PC?
Yes, historically. Turn 10’s official franchise history says Apex was free to download through the Microsoft Store when it released in May 2016. Microsoft later confirmed that the full release remained free when it left beta on September 6, 2016.

That describes its launch distribution, not a guarantee that the Store currently grants new accounts access. The official Forza history records its original free release, and Microsoft’s full-release announcement described it as “still free.”
Can you still download Forza Motorsport 6: Apex?
It is uncertain. The Microsoft Store product page is still indexed, but an indexed listing alone does not prove that a first-time installation is available. In a 2020 thread, one user on the official Forza Community forum reported that the Store showed the game as unavailable and offered a redeem-code option. That individual report does not establish access for every account or region now.

- Open the Microsoft Store while signed in to the Microsoft account and region you intend to use.
- Find the Apex listing and check whether it offers an install option for your account.
- If the listing says unavailable or asks for a code, do not assume a code is obtainable or will work; the available information does not confirm either.
Current installation access for previous owners is also not confirmed, and the available sources do not establish whether Apex runs reliably on current Windows releases.
Is Apex the same as Forza Motorsport 6?
No. Apex is the Windows PC experience associated with Forza Motorsport 6, not the Xbox One edition itself. Turn 10’s franchise history lists Forza Motorsport 6 on Xbox One and PC (FM6: Apex). Microsoft described Apex as a curated standalone experience in its beta announcement, so it should not be treated as a PC copy identical to the console release.

Feature details require a date qualification: a beta-era community post said Apex would not include online multiplayer or the livery editor at that time. That post does not establish whether those omissions remained unchanged in the full release. The same period’s description mentioned cloud-based Drivatars and asynchronous leaderboards. What were the Windows 10 requirements?
A 2016 community FAQ excerpt lists 64-bit Windows 10, DirectX 12, and 30 GB of disk space. These are period requirements, not confirmation of compatibility with today’s Windows versions.
