Is Forza Horizon 6 set in Japan?
Yes. Playground Games confirmed Japan as the setting on September 25, 2025, during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast. The announcement followed years of fan requests, but the studio said it wanted to approach the country with care. Art Director Don Arceta told Xbox Wire: “While fans have been asking for this location for a long time, it was important to us to acknowledge the love and reverence we have for Japan and its unique culture.” Xbox Wire’s announcement provides the original confirmation.
When did Forza Horizon 6 come out?
The original announcement gave the game a 2026 window. Playground Games later set May 19, 2026 as the release date for Xbox Series X|S and PC. Buyers of the Premium Edition received early access starting May 15, four days before the standard launch. The studio reported worldwide availability on Xbox and PC in an update dated May 22, 2026. What does the Japan map include?
The official map reveal highlights a mix of city routes and mountain roads, including routes inspired by the C1 loop and Gingko Avenue, as well as Mt. Haruna and Bandai Azuma. Playground Games describes the world as the series’ densest and most vertical map. The named roads and locations offer a clearer sense of the setting than the country-level announcement alone: the game draws on both urban driving and mountain scenery.
