Freedom-Sworn is a five-star sword with Elemental Mastery and a reaction-triggered team buff. Its passive can support reaction-focused builds, including Kuki Shinobu in Hyperbloom, but whether it is the right choice depends on the team’s needs—especially its demand for Energy Recharge and Burst uptime.
What Freedom-Sworn does
Released in Version 1.6, Freedom-Sworn has Elemental Mastery as its secondary stat. Its passive, Revolutionary Chorale, grants the wielder a Sigil of Rebellion when they trigger an Elemental Reaction. This can happen once every 0.5 seconds, even while the wielder is off-field.
At two sigils, the weapon consumes them and grants nearby party members Millennial Movement: Song of Resistance for 12 seconds. That effect increases Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG, as well as ATK. After it activates, the wielder cannot gain sigils for 20 seconds. Buffs from Millennial Movement effects of the same type do not stack.
The official item description reads: “A straight sword, azure as antediluvian song, and as keen as the oaths of freedom taken in the Land of Wind.” HoYoWiki’s Freedom-Sworn entry lists the weapon’s stats and passive.

Passive values by refinement
These are the weapon’s listed passive values from Refinement 1 through Refinement 5, not a guaranteed increase of the same size in every character’s damage.
| Passive effect | Refinement 1 | Refinement 5 |
|---|---|---|
| DMG increase | 10% | 20% |
| Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG increase | 16% | 32% |
| ATK increase | 20% | 40% |
The first DMG increase applies to the wielder; the attack DMG and ATK increases are part of the 12-second party buff. The passive’s trigger, sigil limit, and cooldown still govern when that team buff can be activated.

Is Freedom-Sworn good on Kuki Shinobu?
KeqingMains identifies Freedom-Sworn as a strong option for Kuki Shinobu in Hyperbloom: Elemental Mastery supports her reaction damage, and the passive adds a team ATK buff. HoYoWiki notes that Shinobu’s Skill heals over time and scales with HP and Elemental Mastery, so EM also supports that part of her kit. The value of the ATK buff depends on the rest of the team and what its characters’ damage scales with.
It is not an automatic best choice for every Shinobu team. KeqingMains notes that Xiphos’ Moonlight can be preferable in some teams where Shinobu’s Burst matters more. Consider the difference between more EM and Freedom-Sworn’s team buff on one hand, and the Energy Recharge contribution and Burst comfort that Xiphos’ Moonlight can offer on the other. The guide’s recommendation is a team-context judgment, not a universal ranking. See the Kuki Shinobu Quick Guide and HoYoWiki’s Kuki Shinobu reference.

Who should use it?
Freedom-Sworn makes the most sense when a sword wielder can trigger reactions reliably and the team benefits from its attack-focused buff. Before equipping it, check:
- Reaction access: The wielder must trigger reactions to earn sigils. The passive can work off-field, but it still depends on the wielder triggering the reaction.
- Buff fit: The party should benefit from Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack DMG and ATK increases. A team whose important damage does not make use of those bonuses may gain less value from the buff.
- Other needs: Compare the weapon’s EM and team effect with alternatives that better address a character’s Energy Recharge or other role-specific requirements.
- Stacking: Do not count on stacking another Millennial Movement buff of the same type.
The available character-specific guidance supports the Kuki Shinobu example above; it does not establish a complete ranking for every sword user.
