Lazare’s Sacrifice is a narrative deckbuilder set during the French Revolution, developed by Dream Reality Interactive and published by Curve Games. It is planned for PC via Steam in 2027. The game was announced on October 8, 2026, and the Steam store page gives the year only, so no specific release date has been set. Its central idea is that you can pay for survival with your own resources: cards, board slots, or health can be given up to improve your chances of escaping prison.

What the game is about

You play as General Lazare Hoche, imprisoned in Carmes Prison during the French Revolution. The official description frames the situation around a conspiracy, historical figures, and the guillotine. The store copy puts it bluntly: “The guillotine awaits. Your only escape? A deck of cards.”

The game combines tactical card duels with exploration and a prison mystery. Defeated opponents are sent to the guillotine, which lets you claim selected cards from their decks. That is the game’s main way of building a collection, so each victory changes what you can play next. The listing also says four factions and hidden cards are part of the design. It does not explain how the factions differ, and the hidden cards are not described in detail.

What you sacrifice to escape

The feature list names three things you can give up in exchange for a better chance of escape. The mechanic is presented as a high-level feature. Detailed rules have not been published, so how much each sacrifice is worth, when it can be used, and whether it can be undone remain unknown.

#1 Best Overall
Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars The DeckBuilding Game | Strategy Card Game | Head-to-Head Tactical Battle Game for Adults & Kids | Ages 12+ | 2 Players | Average Playtime 30 Minutes (FFGSWG01)
  • EPIC STAR WARS BATTLES: Immerse yourself in the epic struggle between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance in this head-to-head card game set in the Star Wars universe.
  • EASY TO LEARN, CHALLENGING TO MASTER: Enjoy a game that's easy to learn but filled with strategic depth. Face off against your opponent, strengthen your decks, and vie for victory.
  • CHOOSE YOUR SIDE: Play as either the Empire or the Rebels, each with its own unique playstyle and thematic abilities. Customize your strategy as you aim to destroy your opponent's bases.
  • ICONIC STAR WARS CHARACTERS: Over 50 different cards allow you to take command of your favorite Star Wars characters, vehicles, and starships. Deploy iconic bases like the Death Star and Hoth to gain powerful abilities.
  • THRILLING GALACTIC CONFLICT: Engage in intense head-to-head battles that bring the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance to life on your tabletop. Be the first to destroy three of your opponent's bases to claim victory.
  • Cards: giving up cards from your deck or hand trades future options for a stronger position now.
  • Board slots: surrendering a slot reduces the space you have on the battlefield in exchange for a benefit.
  • Health: spending health trades your survivability for better odds of escape.

Each option is a trade-off rather than a free boost, so the sacrifice system is likely to shape the strategy of every duel. Until the rules are published, treat the exact effects as undetermined.

Story Mode and Tower Mode

The game has two modes, described in the listing as follows.

Board Games DC Comics Deckbuilding Game: Injustice
  • Two to Four players take the roles of various Insurgency and Regime parallel universe characters to battle for dominance
  • DC Deckbuilding Game: Injustice - EN
  • Helps childrens in activity learning
  • Quick and easy game for family and friends
  • Story Mode focuses on Lazare’s narrative and the prison conspiracy.
  • Tower Mode is a gauntlet built around a custom deck, which suggests a more open-ended challenge than the story campaign.

The listing does not say how progression, unlocks, or difficulty settings work in either mode.

Who is behind it

Dream Reality Interactive is developing the game, and Curve Games is publishing it. The Steam listing also says the game was crafted in collaboration with Damien Monnier, whom it identifies as the creator of the original Gwent and Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. The announcement materials do not include a direct quote from the developer, publisher, or Monnier, so this article relies only on the listing text for those roles.

Platform, availability and system requirements

The only confirmed platform is PC through Steam. The store page says the game is not yet available and offers a wishlist option. It currently describes single-player play, an English interface, and English subtitles, with Windows 10 64-bit listed as the operating system requirement. Console versions, multiplayer, a physical edition, and pricing are not established in the announcement.

These specifications come from the pre-release Steam listing as of October 8, 2026, and may change before launch:

What is still unknown

The announcement leaves several questions open: the exact release date, the price, console platforms, multiplayer, a physical edition, the detailed rules for sacrifices, and how the four factions differ. The 2027 target is the current store listing and could move. Readers who want to track the game should watch the Steam page for a date and price, which is where those details are most likely to appear first.

Because the game is still in development and its rules are not public, there is not yet a basis for judging its difficulty, replay value, or how well the card and sacrifice systems work together.
