Sekiro: No Defeat, an anime adaptation of FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has a January 2027 broadcast and streaming window, according to KADOKAWA’s current listing. When does the Sekiro anime come out?
KADOKAWA currently lists January 2027 as the broadcast and streaming window for Sekiro: No Defeat. The listing does not specify an exact day. Crunchyroll’s earlier announcement said the series would premiere in 2026, but KADOKAWA’s newer January 2027 window supersedes that timing.

Crunchyroll announced that it would stream the anime exclusively outside Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus. What is the anime about?
The story adapts the central premise of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and takes place in Sengoku-era Ashina. Wolf, a shinobi, serves the young Kuro, whose Dragon’s Heritage grants immortality but is tied to Dragonrot, a fatal illness affecting others. Kuro resolves to sever the heritage even at the cost of his own life, while Wolf fights to change his fate.

The announced synopsis establishes the characters and conflict, but does not say which ending from the game the anime will follow.
Who is making the Sekiro anime?
The official anime site describes Sekiro: No Defeat as a full hand-drawn 2D animation movie. FromSoftware also describes it as a full 2D animation. KADOKAWA lists Qzil.la as the animation studio and ARCH as producer.

Crunchyroll’s 2025 announcement reported that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice had sold more than 10 million copies globally at that time. That is a historical figure from the announcement, not a current sales total.
