1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesfruity video player.dll may appear in messages such as “Fruity Video Player_x64.dll could not be found,” “Failed to load Fruity Video Player_x64.dll,” or “The application has failed to start because Fruity Video Player_x64.dll was not found.” You may also see a message saying the file is missing, corrupt, or causing an access violation.
The 60-second answer
This is an FL Studio component, not a Windows system DLL. The safest repair is to download the current Windows installer from Image-Line and run it over the existing FL Studio installation. You normally do not need to uninstall first, and the installer includes most native FL Studio plugins.
Before repairing anything, check whether the message actually names Fruity Video Player_x64.dll. The exact bare filename fruity video player.dll is not confirmed by an official Image-Line file manifest, while public reports commonly identify the Windows plugin as Fruity Video Player_x64.dll.
Do not download a replacement DLL from a random website or copy it into System32. That can introduce the wrong architecture, missing dependencies, corrupted files, or malware without repairing the FL Studio installation that owns the plugin.

What this file belongs to
Fruity Video Player is a native Image-Line plugin used inside FL Studio for video scoring and synchronized playback. It plays video alongside the FL Studio Playlist and timeline and uses FFmpeg to support common formats including AVI, MOV, MPEG, and WMV.
It is not:
- A Windows component
- A Microsoft runtime
- A graphics driver
- A general-purpose system DLL
- A file that should be registered with
regsvr32
The error can occur when FL Studio starts, when you insert Fruity Video Player, or when you open a video. Those situations do not always have the same cause.
First identify the failure
Write down the exact error and answer these questions:
- Does FL Studio fail during startup, or does only Fruity Video Player fail?
- Does the plugin appear in FL Studio but fail when you open a video?
- Does the message name
Fruity Video Player_x64.dll, or onlyfruity video player.dll? - Which FL Studio edition and version are installed?
- Is Windows 10 or Windows 11 64-bit?
- Did the problem begin after an FL Studio update, antivirus detection, disk cleanup, or moving the FL Studio folder?
- Is the file absent from the FL Studio installation directory, or present but blocked?
- Are all videos failing, or only one project or media file?
A missing-file dialog points toward installation damage, quarantine, or a path problem. A blank preview, failed video import, missing audio, or crash after the plugin opens points more toward video decoding, media compatibility, licensing, or a plugin problem.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFix 1: Repair FL Studio with the official installer
This is the most likely fix when the DLL is missing, damaged, or removed during an incomplete update.
- Restart Windows.
- Open a browser and go to Image-Line’s official FL Studio download page.
- Download the current Windows installer.
- Close FL Studio and any related Image-Line programs.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- When the installer detects an existing FL Studio installation, confirm that it is the installation you normally use.
- Continue the installation over the existing files.
- Restart Windows after the installation completes.
- Open FL Studio and try to load Fruity Video Player again.
Image-Line’s update guidance says that running the installer over the existing installation replaces program files without requiring an uninstall. Personal files are not supposed to be deleted, but keep project files and custom presets backed up before making major changes.
How to tell whether it worked
The repair worked if FL Studio starts without the missing-DLL message and Fruity Video Player loads from the plugin menu. Open a test project and try a supported video file.

If the installer does not detect the installation, do not point it at an unrelated copied plugin folder. Check where FL Studio is installed, then run the official installer again and select the correct application location.
If the error remains after repair, continue with the license, antivirus, and architecture checks below.
Fix 2: Confirm your FL Studio edition and unlock status
Fruity Video Player is an FL Studio product and may require the appropriate edition or separate purchase and unlock status. A valid installation can still behave differently when the account is not activated or the edition does not include the feature.
- Open FL Studio.
- Select Help.
- Choose Unlock FL Studio.
- Sign in with the Image-Line account associated with your license.
- Complete the unlock or renewal process shown for your account.
- Close and restart FL Studio.
- Try Fruity Video Player again.
If FL Studio cannot start normally, complete the official installer repair first, then perform the unlock step.
A licensing problem usually does not mean that Windows needs a replacement DLL. If the plugin is visible but unavailable, disabled, or fails only after opening a project, licensing is more plausible than a missing Windows component.

Fix 3: Check antivirus quarantine and protection history
Security software can quarantine a plugin file after an update or scan. Do not immediately disable antivirus protection.
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an event involving FL Studio, Image-Line, or Fruity Video Player.
- Record the detected file path and action.
- If the file is genuinely in the official Image-Line installation directory, review the detection carefully.
- Restore or allow the file only when you have verified that it came from the official installer and your security product identifies it as safe.
- Run the official FL Studio installer again to replace or repair the file.
- Restart Windows and test FL Studio.
For third-party endpoint security, inspect its quarantine or threat-history panel using the same process.

If the file was found in a temporary folder, an unknown download directory, or a copied plugin collection, do not restore it. Remove it and reinstall FL Studio from Image-Line instead.
Fix 4: Check the installation path and 32-bit versus 64-bit mismatch
The _x64 name indicates a 64-bit build. A stale 32-bit installation, copied plugin folder, or multiple FL Studio installations can leave the program looking in the wrong location.
- Open FL Studio.
- Select Help and then About to identify the installed application.
- Note whether you are running the 64-bit edition.
- Check Options > File settings and review the plugin search paths.
- Look for old, duplicated, or manually copied FL Studio directories.
- Remove stale search paths only if you are certain they no longer contain required third-party plugins.
- Close FL Studio.
- Run the current official Windows installer over the correct FL Studio installation.
- Reopen FL Studio and rescan or reload the plugin.
Do not copy a 32-bit DLL into a 64-bit plugin directory or the reverse. Do not rename a DLL to make it match the error. The filename, architecture, dependencies, and installation path must agree.
Fix 5: Separate a missing DLL from a video playback failure
If Fruity Video Player appears in FL Studio but videos do not play, the DLL may already be present and working well enough to load.
Test the difference:
- Missing plugin: FL Studio reports that the DLL cannot be found or loaded before the plugin opens.
- Media problem: The plugin opens, but the preview is blank, the video refuses to import, audio is absent, or playback crashes.
- Project problem: One project fails while a new project works.
- Codec or container problem: One video fails while another supported video opens.
For a playback problem:
- Open a new empty FL Studio project.
- Insert Fruity Video Player.
- Test another video file.
- Try a supported container such as AVI, MOV, MPEG, or WMV.
- Check whether the problem follows the video file or occurs with every file.
- Update FL Studio using the official installer.
- Check whether the video’s keyframes or synchronization behavior are causing the problem.
Do not reinstall Windows merely because one video fails. A media container, decoding issue, synchronization problem, or damaged project can produce symptoms that look unrelated to the original DLL message.
Fix 6: Update display drivers only when playback points to a graphics problem
A graphics driver is not the owner of Fruity Video Player, so driver replacement is not the first repair for a missing DLL. It becomes relevant when FL Studio loads the plugin but video preview causes display corruption, a crash, or rendering problems.
Recommended Free Tools
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
- Test Fruity Video Player with a new project and another video.
If Windows finds no driver, use the graphics hardware manufacturer’s official support page rather than a DLL site. Do not remove the display adapter unless you have a specific driver-repair reason.

If manually checking hardware vendors and driver versions is taking longer than the actual FL Studio diagnosis, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers; its free scan shows what it finds, while driver installation is handled by the full version. It is optional, and reinstalling FL Studio remains the definitive repair when the plugin file itself is missing.

Windows repair commands are secondary here. Microsoft’s DISM and System File Checker tools repair protected Windows files, not normally a missing Image-Line plugin. Use them after repairing FL Studio if Windows itself has damaged components or other applications are also failing.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command and press Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows.
- Test FL Studio again.
Microsoft documents this order in its System File Checker and DISM guidance.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test Windows and FL Studio after restarting. If it reports no integrity violations, that does not prove that the Image-Line DLL is present. Return to the official FL Studio installer and antivirus checks.
Repeatedly running SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can waste time. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for broader Windows issues and show what it finds; the free scan identifies problems, while repair is handled by the full version. It is optional, and it does not replace reinstalling FL Studio when that application’s plugin is absent.
Why regsvr32 is usually wrong
Do not use regsvr32 as a default fix for Fruity Video Player. Registration is intended for DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. A native FL Studio plugin is normally loaded by FL Studio from its application or plugin directory.
If you run regsvr32 and receive an error about DllRegisterServer being missing, that does not prove the file is broken. It usually means the DLL is not designed for COM registration. Microsoft explains this class of error in its regsvr32 troubleshooting guidance.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Likewise, never copy the file into:
C:WindowsSystem32
C:WindowsSysWOW64
Those folders are for Windows system components, not for repairing an Image-Line application plugin.
Escalate with Image-Line Diagnostics
If the official installer, unlock procedure, quarantine check, and playback tests do not resolve the issue, collect diagnostic information from FL Studio.

For a licensed installation:
- Open FL Studio.
- Select Help.
- Select Diagnostics.
- Choose the diagnostic or report option relevant to the failure.
- Save the report.
- Provide the exact error text, FL Studio edition, Windows version, installation path, and the steps that reproduce the problem when contacting Image-Line support.
This is especially useful when the DLL is present but FL Studio reports a load failure or crashes while opening video.
FAQ
Is fruity video player.dll the correct filename?
The exact bare filename is not confirmed by an official Image-Line manifest. Windows reports and public file metadata more commonly identify Fruity Video Player_x64.dll. Treat the complete error path and filename as authoritative for your installation.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Can I download the DLL by itself?
No. A standalone DLL can have the wrong version, architecture, dependencies, or malicious modifications. Repair FL Studio with Image-Line’s official Windows installer.
Should I put the file in System32?
No. Fruity Video Player is an FL Studio plugin, not a Windows system library.
Does SFC restore Fruity Video Player?
Normally no. SFC repairs protected Windows system files. It does not normally recreate a missing Image-Line plugin.
Do I need Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not as a first step. The evidence does not establish that reinstalling those runtimes is the normal repair for this plugin. Only pursue a runtime when the actual error specifically names it.
Is Video Player 2 a different plugin?
Image-Line forum material indicates that “Video Player 2” described a newer implementation while the installed plugin continued to appear as “Fruity Video Player.” Do not search for a separate DLL based only on that wording.
What if FL Studio opens but one video does not?
Test another supported video, check the container and decoding behavior, and update FL Studio. That pattern usually calls for media troubleshooting rather than a missing-DLL repair.
