No—Fujin is not listed as a playable fighter or Kameo Fighter in the published Mortal Kombat 1 rosters checked on October 13, 2026. He is absent from the base-game roster, Kombat Pack 1, Kombat Pack 2 and the official Kameo roster. That conclusion concerns the game’s published character lists; it does not prove that Fujin can never be mentioned in dialogue, shown in a background, or referenced in another non-roster context.
What “exists in Mortal Kombat 1” can mean
The question is ambiguous because Mortal Kombat 1 separates its normal fighters from Kameo Fighters. A main-roster fighter is the character you select as your primary combatant. A Kameo Fighter is a partner chosen separately who assists during a match. Warner Bros. Games describes Kameos as “a unique roster of partner characters to assist during matches” and explicitly says they are chosen separately from the main roster (official Mortal Kombat 1 FAQ).

Therefore, checking only the main fighters would not answer whether Fujin is available as an assist, and checking only Kameos would not establish that he is a full fighter. The official pages publish those categories separately, so each must be checked on its own.
Fujin is not on the Mortal Kombat 1 base roster
The publisher’s FAQ enumerates the base-game fighters as Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, Smoke, Rain, Li Mei, Tanya, Baraka, Geras, Reptile, Ashrah, Havik, General Shao, Sindel, Reiko and Nitara. Fujin does not appear in that published list (Warner Bros. Games FAQ).

This means Fujin is not a selectable base-game main fighter according to the roster information currently supplied by the publisher. It does not mean that every character absent from the list is absent from the game’s fiction; it is specifically a statement about playable roster membership.
He is not named in either published Kombat Pack
The same FAQ identifies the additional fighters in both named DLC packs. Fujin is absent from each set.
| Content group | Fighters named by the publisher | Fujin listed? |
|---|---|---|
| Base Mortal Kombat 1 roster | Liu Kang; Scorpion; Sub-Zero; Raiden; Kung Lao; Kitana; Mileena; Johnny Cage; Kenshi; Smoke; Rain; Li Mei; Tanya; Baraka; Geras; Reptile; Ashrah; Havik; General Shao; Sindel; Reiko; Nitara | No |
| Kombat Pack 1 | Quan Chi; Ermac; Takeda Takahashi; Omni-Man; Peacemaker; Homelander | No |
| Kombat Pack 2 | Cyrax; Sektor; Noob Saibot; Ghostface; Conan the Barbarian; T-1000 Terminator | No |
The FAQ’s Definitive Edition inventory repeats the characters from both packs, with no Fujin entry. On the evidence of those published lists, buying a pack or the Definitive Edition does not provide Fujin as a named fighter.

Kombat Pack 1
Kombat Pack 1 contains six named fighters: Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda Takahashi, Omni-Man, Peacemaker and Homelander. None is Fujin, and the FAQ does not list him as an extra fighter attached to that pack.
Kombat Pack 2
Kombat Pack 2 contains Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, Conan the Barbarian and T-1000 Terminator. The FAQ also names Madam Bo as its Kameo Fighter. Fujin is not among the six fighters or the separately identified Kameo addition.
Fujin is not on the official Kameo roster either
The publisher’s roster page lists the available Kameo characters separately from the main fighters. The published Kameo names include Sub-Zero, Shujinko, Scorpion, Motaro, Kung Lao, Cyrax, Frost, Goro, Jax, Kano, Darrius, Sareena, Sektor, Sonya, Stryker, Tremor, Khameleon, Janet Cage, Mavado, Ferra and Madam Bo (official Mortal Kombat 1 roster page).

Fujin is not listed there. Since Kameos are assist partners rather than alternate names for main fighters, his absence from this page means there is no published Fujin Kameo selection either. A character appearing in a game’s story or lore would not automatically make that character a Kameo; the Kameo designation depends on inclusion in the Kameo roster.

Microsoft’s Xbox store listing for Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition independently enumerates the included Mortal Kombat 1 base-game and DLC fighters, and Fujin is absent from that MK1 content description (Xbox Definitive Edition listing).
The store page also contains separate products for earlier Mortal Kombat games. That matters when searching the page: a franchise-wide store result or an older game’s character information cannot be treated as proof that Fujin is in Mortal Kombat 1. The relevant evidence is the section describing the MK1 game and its included additions, not every Mortal Kombat product shown by the store.

Does this rule out a Fujin story appearance?
No. The roster and store sources establish availability categories: base fighter, DLC fighter and Kameo. They do not provide a complete transcript of every line of dialogue, cinematic, background detail or other narrative reference. It would therefore be too broad to say that Fujin “never appears” anywhere in Mortal Kombat 1.
The defensible conclusion is narrower: the published character lists do not offer Fujin as a playable main fighter or Kameo Fighter. If you are asking whether you can select him for a match using the currently enumerated content, the answer is no. If you are asking whether the game might acknowledge him in fiction, these roster pages alone cannot answer that separate question.

- Open the Mortal Kombat 1 FAQ and find the sections that enumerate the main-game fighters and downloadable fighters.
- Search the base roster for “Fujin.” If his name is not present, he is not listed as a base-game main fighter.
- Check both named Kombat Pack sections rather than assuming a character absent from the base list is DLC. The currently published packs list six fighters each, and neither includes Fujin.
- Open the official roster page and inspect the Kameo Fighters section separately. A name in the main roster does not automatically make that character a Kameo, and vice versa.
- Use the Xbox Definitive Edition description as a cross-check for the content included in that edition, while ignoring listings for older Mortal Kombat games on the same store page.
When checking after a new announcement, record the date and edition you are examining. “Not listed” is a time-sensitive roster finding, not a prediction that no future content could ever be announced.
What this means for buying and playing
- You cannot choose Fujin as an MK1 main fighter from the published roster. None of the base-game names is Fujin.
- You cannot choose him as a published Kameo assist. He is absent from the official Kameo list.
- Neither currently named Kombat Pack supplies him. The six fighters in Kombat Pack 1 and the six in Kombat Pack 2 are identified by name, and Fujin is not among them.
- An edition upgrade does not change the published character names. The Definitive Edition inventory repeats the base and pack content rather than adding a Fujin entry.
- A story reference would be a different kind of appearance. Roster availability and narrative presence should not be treated as synonyms.
Warner Bros. Games says Mortal Kombat 1 is sold in physical and digital editions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch (official FAQ). That platform information identifies where the game is offered; it does not indicate that Fujin is available on one platform but not another. The published character lists do not make a platform-specific exception for him.
Why online answers can appear contradictory
Search results often combine several different questions: whether Fujin is a character in the broader Mortal Kombat franchise, whether he appeared in an earlier installment, whether fans expect him as downloadable content, and whether he is playable in Mortal Kombat 1. Those are not interchangeable claims.
A screenshot, fan-made roster, mod, wish list or reference to an earlier game cannot override the current publisher lists when the question is official MK1 availability. Likewise, finding Fujin’s name in a general Mortal Kombat database does not establish that he is selectable in MK1. The reliable test is whether the current official base, DLC or Kameo roster names him.
Current verdict and freshness
As checked on October 13, 2026, Fujin does not exist in Mortal Kombat 1 as a character on the publisher’s published playable rosters: not in the base game, not in Kombat Pack 1, not in Kombat Pack 2 and not among Kameo Fighters. The official FAQ, roster page and Xbox Definitive Edition listing agree on that status.
Because rosters can be expanded or revised, recheck the publisher’s current FAQ and roster page if a later content announcement appears or if you are making the decision after October 13, 2026. Until an official list names Fujin, treat claims that he is an MK1 fighter or Kameo as unverified rather than as an available selection.
