Gamblit Gaming announced a $12 million financing round from American Capital in March 2014, saying it would use the funding to expand a platform for real-money games with more varied, video-game-like play. The pitch was not simply to turn social casino slots into gambling products: Gamblit aimed to provide developers and casino operators with the regulated technology and services needed to offer wagering.
Who funded Gamblit, and what did it plan to do with the money?
GamesBeat reported on March 28, 2014, that Gamblit had announced $12 million in funding from American Capital. The publication said the company had raised $20 million in total to that point and planned to grow its platform and operations ahead of launches. Those are figures reported in 2014, not current financial information. GamesBeat’s report also put the company’s headcount at 49 employees that year.
How was Gamblit’s idea different from social casino games?
Gamblit’s stated aim was to make gambling games whose play felt more like video games, rather than simply convert familiar social casino slot games into real-money products. The distinction was about both the player experience and the business model: social casino games can imitate gambling without wagering real money, while Gamblit was pursuing games that included real-money wagering in regulated markets.
David Chang, then Gamblit’s chief marketing officer, described the ambition to GamesBeat as creating “brand new gambling games that look a lot more like the games we grew up on.” The company’s pitch was to let developers preserve a game’s core play while adding gambling mechanics where permitted.

What role did Gamblit’s platform play?
Gamblit presented itself as infrastructure for developers and casino operators, not just as a game studio. Its developer page described support for adding wagering mechanics to games, alongside platform technology and operational services. The company said those services included account management, security, licensing, regulatory compliance, customer service for wager-related transactions, and cash-in/cash-out handling. It also described its wagering engine as regulator-approved and tested; those are the company’s own descriptions.
- For developers: Gamblit offered a proposed route into regulated real-money gaming without requiring each studio to build all the compliance and operations infrastructure itself.
- For operators: The company described games and systems intended for casino floors and online settings, with the ability to deploy offerings through its platform.
Chang called the company “a bridge” for developers seeking entry into gambling markets. GamesBeat cited the United Kingdom as an example of a place where online gambling was legal in 2014; that historical reference should not be read as a statement about current law in any jurisdiction.

What later operator interest did Gamblit announce?
On September 7, 2016, Caesars Entertainment announced a multi-year agreement to introduce Gamblit skill-based gaming positions at its properties. The announcement named Model G and TriStation, with plans for Southern California properties and further installations in Nevada and other markets. Caesars’ statement documents the agreement and planned rollout; it does not establish that every proposed installation took place. Caesars’ announcement characterized the deal as part of its gaming-innovation strategy.
