When did Game of Thrones: Kingsroad officially release?
Netmarble announced the game’s availability on May 21, 2025, for mobile and PC in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East. The announcement said Asian launch timing would be announced later. Netmarble’s May 21, 2025 launch announcement is the source for that original western release date and regional scope.

A later notice gave a separate schedule for 2026: PC pre-launch on May 14, followed by a mobile grand launch on May 21. It names PC Launcher, Steam, and Epic Games for the PC pre-launch, and Google Play, Google Play Games, and the App Store for the mobile grand launch. The schedule identifies UTC, but the notice excerpt does not state the territory. Treat it as a distinct schedule, not a correction to the 2025 date or proof of a worldwide relaunch. What is the October 2026 date?
October 2026 refers to Netmarble’s later Global Content Alignment server and systems update, not the original release. Netmarble’s September 14 announcement said the server would launch October 13, 2026. Its official landing page displays October 14, 2026, alongside alignment material and gives a pre-registration period ending October 13 UTC. The one-day discrepancy is unresolved in those pages, so neither date should be presented as a settled correction of the other. These are different release notices with different scopes. Check the game’s official regional channels for availability in a particular country rather than assuming that either notice applies everywhere.
What kind of game is Kingsroad?
Netmarble describes Game of Thrones: Kingsroad as an open-world action RPG based on HBO’s series and officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO. The player is the heir to House Tyre, a small noble house in the North, and chooses one of three classes: Knight, Sellsword, or Assassin. Netmarble places the story in the latter half of season four and says the game also draws inspiration from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels. The launch announcement described exploration across Westeros, including King’s Landing, Castle Black, Highgarden, and the Wall, and named characters including Jaime Lannister, Lord Varys, Cersei, Stannis Baratheon, and Olenna Tyrell. It also listed Storm’s End and Felwood among areas added with Chapter 3 at launch. These are publisher descriptions of the game’s content, not an independent assessment of how it plays.
What changes with Global Content Alignment?
Netmarble describes Global Content Alignment as a redesigned server with changes to progression, combat, visuals, the game economy, and multiplayer. The announced systems include a membership- and battle-pass-focused structure and dual-weapon use. The publisher also named navigation, interface, skip-function, and visual-quality updates, plus multiplayer additions called Elite Hideout, Honor Points, and Exchange Post. These are announced changes; the cited notice does not establish how they perform in practice.

According to Netmarble, players can keep their existing characters and continue playing on the Western Server, or choose the redesigned server. A reward program is tied to Western Server progression and cumulative purchase history. The announcement also said a Season 3 update with a Stormlands storyline would follow shortly afterward, without giving a specific date for that follow-up. Netmarble’s alignment announcement.

No. Netmarble says the game takes inspiration from the novels, but the release information does not say that reading them is required. For optional background on the setting, look for A Song of Ice and Fire books; no particular edition or retailer listing is established here.
