That made continuing an Android session on a Windows PC or Steam Deck possible for some users. It was not a universal, permanently verified fix: later reports still describe stale saves, failed uploads, crashes, and device-specific problems.
Back up your save before testing. The safest workflow is to use GameHub’s full or numbered Steam mode, return Silksong to its title screen, exit through GameHub’s own side panel, and wait for synchronization to finish before opening the game elsewhere.
What GameHub is—and what it is not
This article concerns the Android app listed on Google Play as GameHub, associated with the GameSir/GameHub ecosystem and listed under Guangzhou Chicken Run Network Technology Co., Ltd. It is not Steam Link, Samsung Gaming Hub, or a generic launcher.
GameHub presents itself as an Android platform for PC-game compatibility, cloud gaming, game streaming, controllers, and touch controls. In this Silksong workflow, the game is intended to run locally through GameHub’s PC-game environment—not merely stream a video feed from a PC.

Use your own legitimately owned Steam copy. GameHub does not provide ownership of the game, and this procedure should not be treated as a way around Steam authentication, DRM, or platform terms.
What was broken in GameHub 5.0
GameHub 5.0 added or advertised fuller Steam integration, including cloud saves and online functionality, while Silksong was highlighted as an optimized title in coverage from Android Authority.
The important distinction was that cloud saves appeared to work in only one direction for some users:
- A save could download from Steam to Android.
- Progress made on Android could remain only in GameHub’s local environment.
- Opening Silksong on a PC could therefore restore the older Steam copy.
In the worst cases, the older copy could later overwrite newer Android progress. “Cloud saves supported” did not necessarily mean reliable two-way synchronization.
What GameHub 5.0.4 reportedly changed
A community post quoting a GameHub Discord announcement reported that version 5.0.4 fixed a cloud-save upload failure during manual exit, alongside a Native Rendering+ display fix. The evidence supports describing this as a reported hotfix, not as a fully documented guarantee from a durable official changelog. See the reported announcement.

That change addressed the crucial reverse path: getting modified Android save data back to Steam when you finish playing. It did not prove that every Android phone, every GameHub build, or every Steam configuration would synchronize safely.
The hotfix was reported in September 2025. It should not be confused with proof that the latest GameHub build in September 2026 behaves identically. The available evidence does not establish the current stable version or confirm universal reliability on later 5.x or 6.x builds.
Requirements before you try it
- An Android phone or handheld capable of running Silksong through GameHub’s compatibility environment.
- The legitimate Steam version of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
- The same Steam account on the Android device and PC.
- A working internet connection when downloading or uploading cloud data.
- A current GameHub installation, or the specific 5.0.4-era build you are evaluating.
- A backup of your existing save before the first test.
- Consistent game versions and branches on Android and PC.
Save syncing does not guarantee good performance. Chipset, GPU driver, compatibility layer, rendering mode, RAM, cooling, controller support, and thermal throttling can all affect whether the game launches or runs well.

Menu labels can differ by translation, device, and app build, but users have reported the following route:
- Open Silksong in GameHub.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Open PC Game Settings.
- Open Steam settings.
- Switch from the lightweight Steam option to the full or numbered Steam client mode.
The lightweight mode may download cloud data without reliably exposing the upload behavior. Changing Steam mode is a reported workaround, not a guaranteed requirement on every build. The practical menu sequence is documented in this user-focused report.

Before playing, confirm that the expected save is present. Do not assume that a successful login means the correct save has loaded.
The safest phone-to-PC handoff
- Save normally in Silksong.
- Return to the game’s title menu rather than exiting abruptly from active gameplay.
- Open GameHub’s in-game side panel by swiping from the right edge toward the left.
- Tap the gear or settings icon.
- Choose Exit from GameHub’s menu.
- Wait for the cloud-upload or synchronization notification to finish.
- Do not force-close GameHub, disable networking, or power off the device during this step.
- Open Steam on the PC and wait for its cloud status to settle before launching Silksong.
A force-close, Android app-swipe, back gesture, or shutdown can bypass the manual-exit step that the 5.0.4 fix was reported to address.

How to verify the upload
Do not rely only on a “sync successful” message. On the PC, wait for Steam to complete its cloud check. If Steam shows a local-versus-cloud conflict, stop before launching the game and compare timestamps or other available file details.
After selecting the newer copy, check an unmistakable in-game marker: the latest location, playtime, recently acquired ability, quest state, or most recent bench. The available evidence does not establish one universal save-file path or filename across GameHub containers, Android versions, Steam installations, and compatibility layers, so avoid blindly replacing files based on an internet path that may belong to a different setup.
Test the workflow without risking a long session
- Record your current location, playtime, and a recognizable progress marker.
- Back up the existing save before changing Steam mode or testing synchronization.
- Make a small, reversible progress change.
- Use the complete GameHub exit sequence.
- Check on the PC whether the newer marker appears.
- Only after that test succeeds should you trust the workflow with a long Android session.
Keep only one device actively writing to the save at a time. Close the game fully before changing devices.

Common failure modes
The save downloads but does not upload
Confirm that the full or numbered Steam mode is selected, then repeat the title-menu and GameHub-side-panel exit sequence. Check the network connection and wait longer before opening Steam on the PC. If the problem continues, treat GameHub sync as unreliable on that device rather than repeatedly launching both copies.

Do not start Silksong again immediately. Preserve the Android-side state if possible, check Steam’s cloud status, and inspect any conflict dialog manually. Starting the PC copy can make the older cloud save the active version.
Steam shows a conflict
Stop and compare timestamps and progress markers. Preserve both choices before selecting one. Never accept a conflict automatically when you know the Android session contains newer progress.
Offline progress disappears
Offline play can leave newer progress on the phone while Steam retains the older cloud copy. Reconnecting may then download the older save. This reported failure mode is particularly risky after a long trip or airplane session; community reports describe this kind of overwrite.
GameHub crashes or the game runs badly
Cloud synchronization and game performance are separate problems. Crashes, launch failures, driver issues, poor frame rates, and thermal throttling can remain even when an upload works. Current Google Play feedback also contains complaints about crashes and cloud-save failures.

The problem appears after updating GameHub
Do not assume that a later build preserves the 5.0.4 behavior. Later user reports describe inconsistent uploads on newer versions and different devices. Record the GameHub version, Android version, Steam mode, and exit path when troubleshooting.
PC-to-phone continuation works the same way in reverse
Before moving from PC to Android, let Steam finish uploading the PC session and close Silksong normally. On Android, allow GameHub to complete its cloud download before starting the game. If GameHub offers a choice between local and cloud data, compare timestamps and progress rather than choosing automatically.
The same rule applies in both directions: one active writer, a clean exit, a completed cloud operation, and a backup before experimentation.
GameHub versus Steam Link and Moonlight
GameHub is most relevant when you specifically want Silksong to execute locally on an Android phone or handheld, potentially for offline play. That requires suitable hardware and acceptance of compatibility-layer troubleshooting.
Recommended Free Tools
With Steam Link, Silksong continues running on the PC while the Android device receives the video stream and sends controls. Moonlight, commonly paired with Sunshine, offers another PC-streaming route with more configuration control. In both cases, the PC remains the primary game machine and save source, which avoids many Android-side compatibility and save-conflict problems.
| Choose | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| GameHub | Local Android execution and possible offline play | More compatibility, performance, and cloud-sync risk |
| Steam Link | The simplest way to play from a phone while the PC is available | Requires the PC and a good network connection |
| Moonlight/Sunshine | Users who want flexible, low-latency PC streaming | More technical setup; it is still streaming, not local play |
Verdict
GameHub 5.0.4 reportedly fixed the specific manual-exit upload failure that made Silksong progress effectively one-way for many users. Under the reported setup—full or numbered Steam mode, a clean GameHub exit, and enough time for synchronization—it can make Android-to-PC continuation possible.
That is an improvement, not a universal guarantee. Back up first, test with a small progress change, and treat any cloud conflict as a potential overwrite hazard. If your priority is convenience and dependable save handling rather than local Android execution, Steam Link or Moonlight is the safer choice.
