Between September 22 and October 6, 2026, reported milestones ranged from a new Steam concurrency record for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to more than 3 million downloads for mobile game Hunting Rivals. The figures below come from Dmitriy Byshonkov’s October 6 GameDev Reports roundup. They measure different things—sales, players, wishlists, downloads and revenue—so they should not be read as directly comparable totals.
What were the standout game milestones?
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sets a new Steam peak
The roundup reports that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt reached an all-time high of 137,724 concurrent players on Steam, above its previous peak of 103,329 in January 2020. It also attributes to Alinea Analytics an estimate of 2.38 million daily users across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox after the remaster’s release, described as 10 times the game’s 2026 average. Separately, the roundup reports 130,000 copies sold in one day. The Steam peak is a simultaneous-player count; the cross-platform estimate is a daily audience figure, and neither is the same as copies sold.
Wardogs passes 3 million copies in Early Access
Wardogs sold more than 3 million copies in its first 16 days in Early Access, according to the roundup. It also reports that the game reached its first million players within a day of its September 10 Steam launch and its second million within a week. Copies sold and players are distinct measures.
Metro franchise tops 50 million copies
The roundup says the Metro franchise surpassed 50 million copies sold over 16 years. It also reports that free next-generation updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux were scheduled for PC on October 22, 2026, and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on October 29, 2026. These are the dates stated in the October 6 roundup.

Graveyard Keeper 2 sells 400,000 copies in two days
The roundup reports 400,000 copies sold across platforms during the first two days after Graveyard Keeper 2 launched. It separately reports 190,000 Steam preorders and $3 million in gross revenue before launch. The preorder revenue figure is prelaunch gross revenue, not the same measurement as the reported two-day sales.
TMNT: Splintered Fate passes 1.5 million copies
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate passed 1.5 million copies sold, rising to 2.6 million when DLC is counted, according to the roundup. It connects a pickup in sales with the free King’s Gambit update released in mid-August; that reported association does not establish that the update caused the increase.

What revenue figures were reported?
Meltopia: founder-reported Steam sales and estimate
The roundup attributes to the studio founder a report of $456,900 in gross Steam revenue and 89,500 copies sold in almost five months. It estimates about $263,900 remaining after deductions for regional taxes (8.5%), refunds (9%) and Steam’s commission (30%). That remaining amount is the founder’s reported estimate, not an independently audited net-revenue figure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to read these figures
- Copies sold count purchases; they do not establish how many people played or are playing now.
- Concurrent players are playing at the same time, while a daily audience estimate covers activity over a day and may span platforms.
- Wishlists record interest rather than sales; downloads do not necessarily represent unique active users.
- Gross revenue is not the same as revenue after taxes, refunds and platform fees. In the Meltopia figure, the post-deduction amount is specifically an estimate attributed to the studio founder.
The individual figures and source attributions are presented as reported in the October 6 GameDev Reports roundup, which links to SteamDB, Alinea Analytics, GamesBeat, Deep Silver, Steam, social posts, a studio-founder source and MY.GAMES.
