LEGO Super Mario World: Mario & Yoshi (71438) is a 1,215-piece, age-18+ display set with two manually operated moving features. LEGO’s January 2025 US catalog lists it at $129.99, but the available information does not verify a current Prime Day price or that any US offer is the set’s lowest price ever. LEGO’s US page showed it sold out; its Netherlands page said “Retiring soon” and sold out, which does not establish a US retirement date.
What is LEGO Mario & Yoshi 71438?
Set 71438 is LEGO’s collectible adult model inspired by Super Mario World, rather than an interactive play set. Nintendo announced it as a nostalgic Mario and Yoshi set at San Diego Comic-Con. Nintendo’s announcement and LEGO’s US product page identify the set and its collectible focus.
The January 2025 US LEGO retail catalog lists 1,215 pieces, an age rating of 18+, and dimensions of over 15.5 inches high, 10 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. Those measurements make it a display model with a relatively narrow footprint, not a small desk ornament. LEGO US January 2025 catalog
What moves on the model?
The set has two manual mechanisms. Turning the base handle makes Yoshi run with Mario on his back; turning the dial behind Yoshi’s head makes his tongue move in and out. These are built-in features, not electronic controls.

No verified US Amazon checkout price or US price-history series is available here, so the claim that the Prime Day price is the “lowest price ever” cannot be confirmed for the US. Brickwatch reports a €76.99 lowest-ever price in the market it tracks, but that is a third-party, non-US figure; its result does not establish a US Amazon record. Brickwatch price tracker

Who is this set for?
- Choose it for display and nostalgia: the subject, adult age rating, and two hand-operated movements suit a collector who wants a recognizable Super Mario World model to build and show.
- Check your expectations about interactivity: its built-in movement is mechanical. Digital reactions require a compatible Mario, Luigi, or Peach figure, which the catalog describes as optional and sold separately.
- Compare any offer with the right baseline: use $129.99 as the US catalog reference, while checking the retailer’s actual checkout price and market-specific price history before accepting a “lowest ever” claim.
