1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe best game like 7 Days to Die depends on which part you want to keep. Try Project Zomboid for a systemic zombie-survival sandbox, State of Decay 2 for co-op scavenging and community survival, or Conan Exiles for survival crafting and defensive building in a different setting. None reproduces the full combination of first-person combat, survival horror, tower defense, and RPG systems.
What makes 7 Days to Die hard to replace?
The Steam listing describes 7 Days to Die as an open-world mix of first-person shooting, survival horror, tower defense, and role-playing, with solo and co-op play. Its appeal comes from combining those systems rather than focusing on just one. The Fun Pimps’ Steam listing also claims “over 20 million copies sold”; the listing does not state a year, and this is a developer-published figure rather than an independently verified sales tally.
Best games like 7 Days to Die by priority
| Game | Best fit | Setting and survival | Building and crafting | Multiplayer | Viewpoint or platform note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Project Zomboid | Zombie survival and sandbox systems | Zombie-survival struggle | Looting, building, crafting, farming, and fishing | Multiplayer; sandbox is customizable | Isometric perspective, unlike 7 Days to Die’s first-person framing |
| State of Decay 2 | Co-op zombie survival and scavenging | Fight hordes and scavenge resources | Not established by the cited official game page | Four-player co-op; friends can join communities | Platform details are not stated in the cited page description |
| Conan Exiles | Survival crafting and defensive bases | Survival in a different setting, not a zombie match | Buildable bases, traps, and defenses | Single-player, co-op, or persistent online multiplayer | Feature description cited from the PlayStation product page |
Project Zomboid: closest for zombie survival and sandbox play
Project Zomboid is the strongest choice if the draw is surviving in a zombie-filled world while managing a broad set of systems. The Indie Stone’s Steam description says players “loot, build, craft, fight, farm and fish,” and notes a customizable sandbox and multiplayer. That makes it a good fit for players who enjoy making their own survival routine rather than following a narrow set of objectives.
The main adjustment is perspective: it isometric, not first-person like 7 Days to Die. The Steam listing documents Xbox controller gamepad support on Windows, so a PC gamepad is an optional way to play, not a requirement.

State of Decay 2: co-op zombie survival and scavenging
Choose State of Decay 2 if the priority is surviving with friends and gathering supplies in a zombie apocalypse. Its official game page describes four-player co-op, with friends able to join communities to scavenge resources and fight hordes. That directly serves the cooperative survival side of 7 Days to Die; the cited description does not establish a comparable depth of construction or crafting, so this is a co-op recommendation rather than a building-system match.
Conan Exiles: base defenses without the zombie setting
Conan Exiles suits players who care more about open-ended survival, crafting, and fortification than about fighting zombies. The PlayStation product page describes it as an online multiplayer survival game that can be played solo, in co-op, or in persistent online multiplayer, with buildable bases, traps, and defenses. Its setting is a clear departure from the post-apocalyptic zombie world of 7 Days to Die, but its emphasis on preparing and defending a base makes it a relevant survival-crafting alternative.
