Cyberpunk 2077 is officially described as an open-world action-adventure RPG set in Night City. Its protagonist, V, is a mercenary caught up in a fight for survival. Those details point to several different reasons players might want a similar game: exploring a large setting, shaping a role-playing character, approaching combat in different ways, or following a story through quests.

There is no single feature that makes another game a match. Use the dimensions below to decide what you want to carry over—and which changes you are willing to make.
- Setting: Do you want futuristic science fiction, a contemporary world, or fantasy?
- Perspective: Is first-person play important, or will third-person work for you?
- Role-playing: Are you looking for character and quest choices, or mainly a large world to explore?
- Combat: Do you want to prioritize a particular style of fighting?
- Story: Is a central narrative your priority, or do you want exploration to lead the experience?
These are useful comparison questions, not a measured ranking of how closely games resemble Cyberpunk 2077. An official PlayStation open-world guide includes both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 as examples of the broad genre, but that does not establish that their mechanics are alike.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: the strongest confirmed starting point
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the clearest pick if you want another open-world RPG from the same developer. Its official game page describes it as an open-world role-playing game and notes remastered visual, performance, and gameplay upgrades. The major change is the world: instead of Night City and futuristic science fiction, expect dark fantasy.
Choose it if the part you want to revisit is the broad open-world RPG experience—rather than Cyberpunk’s specific setting or protagonist. If a futuristic city, mercenary story, or first-person perspective is essential to your choice, the shared genre label alone is not enough reason to expect a close match.

How to choose an alternative that fits your priorities
If you want the same developer and a different world
Choose The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt if you are open to dark fantasy. This recommendation is based on its official open-world RPG description and shared developer, not a claim that it reproduces Night City or Cyberpunk’s combat.
If you want futuristic science fiction specifically
Setting matters more than genre in this case. The confirmed alternative above changes to fantasy, so it will not meet a strict requirement for a futuristic world. Before choosing another game, check its official description for setting, perspective, role-playing elements, and combat; an open world by itself does not guarantee a similar experience.
