If you want a different game, first decide which part of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice matters most to you: its personal story, unsettling atmosphere, melee combat, directed puzzles, or mythic setting. The available verified sources establish the sequel and those comparison dimensions, but do not support naming other games as close matches.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is the clearest next choice because it continues Senua’s story. Ninja Theory describes a focused narrative, perception puzzles informed by Senua’s experiences of psychosis, visceral combat, and travel across 10th-century Iceland. Those features make it a natural fit if you want another story-led journey centered on Senua, rather than an unrelated game that shares only one broad trait. Ninja Theory announced its release for May 21, 2024. Check the US PlayStation Store listing or your local storefront for current platform, edition, and availability details.
What kind of similarity are you looking for?
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice combines a central character’s personal journey with psychological atmosphere, melee combat, environmental puzzles, and mythology. The US PlayStation Store describes it as a Viking-age vision quest in which Celtic warrior Senua fights for the soul of her dead lover, and says it was created in collaboration with neuroscientists and people who experience psychosis. The game is categorized there as action and adventure. The US listing gives its release date as August 7, 2017. Steam’s storefront tags include “Atmospheric,” “Psychological,” “Story Rich,” and “Mythology”; these are platform labels, not an independent assessment. See the Steam listing.
- Personal story: Look for a game built around one protagonist and a consequential journey.
- Unsettling mood or subjective perspective: Look for atmosphere that makes the world feel oppressive or events feel filtered through a character’s experience.
- Melee combat: Check whether fighting is central and how often it interrupts exploration and story.
- Directed puzzles and traversal: Decide whether you want a guided route with environmental puzzles or a world that invites freer exploration.
- Myth and setting: Consider whether mythic or folkloric material is essential, or whether a personal story matters more than its historical-fantastical backdrop.
These are comparison questions, not proof that another game handles every element the same way. In particular, the fact that the original was made with consultation does not establish that another title portrays psychosis similarly or with comparable care.

Senua
Ninja Theory announced Senua in June 2026 as another action-adventure set in the Hellblade universe. The announcement says it takes place after both earlier Hellblade games and is intended to welcome new players. Xbox Wire reported a planned 2027 release and described a linear story across interconnected locations, with more combat, traversal, and puzzle-solving. It is therefore a future option, not a game readers can currently play. Release plans can change; consult the Ninja Theory announcement and Xbox Wire’s June 7, 2026 report for updates.

Use the features you value most as filters when browsing a storefront or asking for recommendations. A game that shares a mythic setting may differ sharply in combat; a psychological story may have no melee action or environmental puzzles. Read the game’s description and check gameplay details against your priorities rather than treating a single matching tag as evidence that it is a close equivalent.
