That shared target and revenge energy are why Wolfenstein II works as a substitute even though its design is very different. It is also the best fit for readers who want the most direct emotional continuation of Nekome’s vengeance premise while waiting for a planned 2027 release. Sniper Elite 5 — the closest stealth and World War II substitute

Think of Nekome as promising a hunter who reads a patrol, closes distance and turns the environment into a weapon. Think of Sniper Elite 5 as a reconnaissance-led marksman operation in which the same mental sequence—observe, plan, execute—drives a different toolset. The shared discipline is the reason to play it; the weapon and protagonist differences are the reason not to call it an exact replacement.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War — the supernatural co-op branch
Zombie Army 4: Dead War belongs in a separate lane because it changes both tone and structure. It keeps the World War II and Nazi-targeting frame, then adds zombies and a co-op-oriented action format. The result is horror spectacle and frantic shooting rather than a grounded revenge story.

When the detour makes sense
Zombie Army 4 is most useful when your friends are part of the decision. Neither Wolfenstein II nor Nekome’s announced format answers the same co-op need, while Sniper Elite 5 offers co-op within a more tactical framework. Zombie Army 4 is therefore the clearest recommendation for players who want the social and supernatural branches of the premise rather than its personal realism.

If you want a personal revenge story
Nekome is the only title in this group explicitly built around Vano Nastasu, a young Romani man grieving his murdered family. Among released alternatives, Wolfenstein II comes closest to the emotional directness of fighting a regime that has taken everything from the protagonist, but it does so through alternate history and high-volume action rather than Nekome’s specific perspective.
If you want third-person play
Nekome is planned as third person, and Sniper Elite 5 is the clearest released match for that camera perspective. The similarity ends at perspective and tactical observation: Sniper Elite 5 is a shooting and sniping game, while Nekome advertises close-quarters combat, traps and improvised weapons.
If you want stealth and reconnaissance
Choose Sniper Elite 5. Its 1944 France setting, open maps and emphasis on authentic sniping and stealth make it the most reliable current option for planning around enemy positions. Nekome may eventually offer a more intimate and melee-focused version of that loop, but its systems are still announced rather than playable.

Choose Wolfenstein II. Its Nazi-controlled America, resistance recruitment premise and arsenal of guns, hatchets and futuristic weapons deliver the most concentrated action fantasy in the group. The price of that intensity is distance from historical realism and from Nekome’s stealth-first setup.

If you want horror or co-op
Choose Zombie Army 4: Dead War. The zombies and supernatural premise are not a small variation on Nekome; they define the game’s identity. That makes it the right answer for a group seeking frantic horror action, and the wrong answer for anyone specifically seeking grounded survivor revenge.
Historical tone: keep these three lanes separate
These games should not be treated as interchangeable World War II stories.
- Grounded personal revenge: Nekome’s announced story follows a Romani survivor whose family is murdered, with stealth, traps and close combat shaping a personal hunt.
- Grounded military stealth: Sniper Elite 5 places a protagonist in 1944 France investigating Project Kraken and focuses on reconnaissance, stealth and shooting.
- Alternate-history resistance: Wolfenstein II moves to Nazi-controlled America in 1961 and uses futuristic weapons and a heightened resistance narrative.
- Supernatural Nazi horror: Zombie Army 4 adds zombies and a co-op-oriented action structure to the World War II frame.
That distinction prevents the most common recommendation mistake: calling every Nazi-targeting game a mechanical match. The enemy may overlap, but the player’s role, the historical frame and the emotional purpose of the violence do not.
