If you want another game with a direct connection to NieR:Automata, start with NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, its upgraded prequel. If you’re after a similar melancholy science-fiction mood instead, try SIGNALIS—but expect psychological survival horror, not action-RPG combat. Neither recreates every part of Automata; the right pick depends on what you want more of.
Which part of NieR:Automata do you want more of?
NieR:Automata brings together action gameplay, an RPG core, story, science-fiction setting, and music. Its creative credits include director Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, character designer Akihiko Yoshida, composer Keiichi Okabe and MONACA, and game designer Takahisa Taura of PlatinumGames. Those elements offer several ways to look for a follow-up, but no single game here is established as a match for every one.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…: the franchise prequel
The Steam store listing describes NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… as an upgraded prequel to NieR:Automata. It follows a young protagonist trying to save his sister in a ruined world, with a dark, twisting story and customizable swordplay and magic. It is a franchise connection, not a direct continuation of Automata’s plot.
The action and magic make it the more natural choice if you want to stay closer to the series’ action-RPG side. There’s also a musical link: the listing says its soundtrack was newly recorded by NieR:Automata composer Keiichi Okabe. Square Enix and Toylogic are listed as developers, and Square Enix as publisher. The listed release date is April 23, 2021.

SIGNALIS: similar themes, very different play
Steam describes SIGNALIS as a dystopian science-fiction survival-horror game starring Elster, a technician Replika searching for her lost partner and lost dreams. It features humanoid androids and explores identity and memory, alongside puzzles, scarce resources, and psychological horror. That gives it thematic overlap with Automata—notably its android-focused science fiction and melancholic tone—but its survival-horror structure is a substantial gameplay departure from action combat.
Pick it if you’re looking for an uncanny story and unsettling mood, and are willing to manage scarce resources rather than pursue an action-RPG feel. The Steam listing names rose-engine as developer and Balor Games as publisher, and gives an October 27, 2022 release date.
