What it is

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission is a science-fiction action and strategy game from Bohemia Interactive, released in 2012. In its story campaign, Lt Myrik commands an armed carrier across the seas of the Taurus archipelago, building island bases while pursuing the enemy. The setting follows a catastrophic war that leaves Earth badly damaged and makes Taurus important to the effort to restore its water supply. Island bases support defense, mining and manufacturing, so maintaining resources matters to campaign progress. The game also includes a strategy campaign based on the 1980s original, where players set starting conditions and face an opposing carrier across more than 30 islands in six climatic zones. Players can customize the carrier and combat units with upgrades and weapons, while fuel remains a consideration. It is single-player, with achievements, captions, stats, partial controller support and Family Sharing listed. Windows is the listed platform.

  • Story and strategy campaigns
  • More than 30 islands in strategy campaign
  • Island bases support defense and production
  • Carrier and combat-unit customization
  • Listed for Windows only
  • Controller support is partial

Who it suits

It suits solo players interested in combining carrier command, island-base planning and direct action in a science-fiction setting. The separate story and strategy campaigns offer two campaign formats.

Gaea Mission links combat to resource planning, since island networks and supplies support the campaign. Its two campaign modes give solo players both a story-led route and a strategic carrier duel.
