What it is

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis is a military simulation shooter from Bohemia Interactive, set on the Cold War battlefields of Everon and Nogova. Its updated engine is a 64-bit build for Windows and Linux, with support for ultrawide and other resolutions, selectable refresh rates, V-Sync and a modern OpenGL renderer. Players can use a game controller with configurable response and deadzone settings, or rebind keyboard, mouse and controller inputs. The game supports single-player, multiplayer, PvP and co-op, including online and LAN play. An in-game mod manager can enable, order and download community mods. The engine and game source code are released under GNU GPL v3.0-or-later, while game data and assets remain under a separate license. A free Steam demo is available. Steam lists Windows and Linux, and the game includes controller support and online and local multiplayer options.

Who it suits

It suits players looking for a military simulation with solo, online or LAN play, and communities that want to use the in-game mod manager. Its open-source engine may also interest people who want to study, build or port the engine.

Cold War Crisis pairs its military-simulation setting with modern display and input support, plus online and LAN multiplayer. The engine source is open under GNU GPL, but that license does not cover the game data and assets.
