What it is
Trine is a 2009 puzzle-platformer from Frozenbyte, set in a fairytale kingdom threatened by the undead. A wizard, a knight and a thief become bound to the magical Trine artifact and travel through castles, caverns and other strange places. Its physics-based world supports different approaches: the wizard creates objects to solve puzzles and reach routes, the thief uses agility and a grappling hook, and the knight brings physical force to fights and obstacles. You can switch between all three heroes when playing alone, or play with one or two others in online or local co-op, with each player controlling a hero. The journey spans fifteen levels, including the Astral Academy, Crystal Caverns and Dragon Graveyard. Experience lets you upgrade hero abilities, while collected items provide additional help. The game is available on Windows, macOS and Linux, with single-player and co-op options, including shared or split screen.
