How to watch gamescom 2024 now
The live event and its 2024 streams have ended, so old ticket, registration, and live-broadcast instructions should not be treated as current. The official gamescom video archive retained a page for the 2024 Opening Night Live presentation, and the official YouTube upload provided a replay of the full show. Those are the best starting points for anyone catching up after the event.

Opening Night Live was hosted by Geoff Keighley and served as the week’s main announcements-and-trailers showcase. The broadcast began with an approximately 30-minute pre-show, followed by a main presentation expected to run for about two hours.

Publisher and show-floor broadcasts
Opening Night Live was only one part of the online coverage. Xbox announced daily “Live From the Showfloor” programs for August 21–23, featuring gameplay, developer conversations, trailers, and coverage of games appearing at its booth. Bethesda also planned daily programming through its Twitch channel.
The distinction matters: Opening Night Live concentrated on major announcements and new trailers, while publisher streams offered longer conversations, demonstrations, and more detailed looks at selected games.
gamescom 2024 schedule
August 19–20: devcom and Opening Night Live
Devcom, the developer-focused conference associated with gamescom week, continued through Tuesday, August 20. Opening Night Live followed that evening at the venue, before the main gamescom show floor opened.
Wednesday, August 21: trade, media, and wildcard access
Wednesday was primarily the business and media day, although it also marked the beginning of the convention’s public-facing activity. The business area was listed as open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CEST. The entertainment area was also scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., while private visitors with wildcard access could enter the entertainment area from 1:00 p.m.
Xbox’s first show-floor broadcast began at 3:00 p.m. CEST—9:00 a.m. ET and 6:00 a.m. PT—and the company also announced a FanFest community event.
Thursday, August 22: first full public day and gamescom Congress
Thursday was the first main public day. The entertainment area was scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CEST, with trade visitors permitted to enter from 9:00 a.m.

The gamescom Congress took place on August 22. Its program focused on the social, economic, and technological effects of games. Before the event, organizers announced more than 100 speakers across over 60 program items. The completed congress was later reported as featuring 150 experts across 70 sessions and eight stages.
Friday, August 23: programming and gamescom Awards
Friday’s entertainment area ran from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CEST, with trade access from 9:00 a.m. The gamescom Award 2024 ceremony was scheduled for Friday, making it one of the week’s principal formal recognition events.
Saturday, August 24: busiest consumer day and City Festival
Saturday’s entertainment area opened earlier, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CEST. The Event Arena hosted esports programming, including Snapdragon Pro Series competitions. The gamescom City Festival also began in central Cologne on Saturday.
The City Festival was free to access and separate from the trade-fair ticket. That made it a distinct public event rather than simply another hall inside Koelnmesse.
Sunday, August 25: final show-floor day
Sunday was the final convention day, with the entertainment area again scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CEST. The Event Arena, Social Stage, Signing Area, and Cosplay Stage continued their programming, while the gamescom City Festival concluded in central Cologne.
What gamescom 2024 was like
A convention as well as a livestream
gamescom 2024 was not just an online showcase. Organizers reported approximately 335,000 visitors from around 120 countries, including about 32,000 trade visitors. A later Koelnmesse account reported 1,462 exhibiting companies from 64 countries and the same approximate total attendance.
The event’s international character was one of its defining features. Organizers highlighted particularly strong growth in trade participation from the United States and Japan, alongside the convention’s established European audience.

Large digital reach
By Saturday evening, organizers reported more than 310 million cumulative video views across the gamescom show program, including more than 40 million views for Opening Night Live. These were cumulative views, not unique people watching the event.

A later Koelnmesse summary referred to more than 500 million online video views. Since that larger figure appears to use a different measurement cutoff or scope, the 310-million figure is the clearer contemporaneous benchmark. Neither number should be interpreted as a count of unique viewers.
Major exhibitors and playable games
Xbox announced more than 50 playable titles and a substantial presence in Hall 7. Its space included a theater, photo opportunities, a Gear Store, and demonstrations from Xbox Game Studios, Blizzard, Bethesda, and third-party partners.
The announced playable or featured lineup included:

The exact experience varied by title and booth activity, but the Xbox plan illustrates what the physical event offered beyond a trailer presentation: hands-on demos, theatrical sessions, developer conversations, merchandise, photo opportunities, and daily online coverage.
Opening Night Live versus the convention floor
Opening Night Live was built around announcements, new trailers, gameplay reveals, and updates to previously announced games. It was the most efficient way to follow the event remotely, but it was not a complete catalog of everything available at Koelnmesse.
