Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 took place in Cologne on August 19, hosted by Geoff Keighley and Sjokz. It opened with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, featured new reveals including LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Lords of the Fallen 2, and closed with a CG teaser for Black Myth: Zhong Kui. The show mixed announcements with fresh footage for previously announced games, expansion news, crossovers and a Fallout TV-series update.
What was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025?
The August 19 showcase was Gamescom’s Cologne kickoff, hosted by Geoff Keighley and Sjokz. The official stream listing promoted Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, a new look at Resident Evil Requiem and Fallout Season 2 among its highlights. The announcements below distinguish new reveals from updates to games already known to viewers.
Major reveals and headline updates
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7: The show opened with co-op campaign footage. Xbox said the campaign can be played solo or with up to four players, and teased multiplayer and Zombies. PC Gamer’s event recap reported a November 14, 2025 launch date at the time of the show; that is a historical announcement, not a current availability guide. Xbox Wire recap · PC Gamer recap
- Resident Evil Requiem: A new trailer focused on Grace and her mother, according to PC Gamer’s live recap. It was a new look at an announced game, not the reveal of a previously unknown title. Official stream · PC Gamer recap
- LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight: The announcement trailer framed the game as a Batman origin story set in an open-world Gotham, with the Joker, Bane and the Batmobile, as well as references to Batman films. Epic Games Store’s recap gave a 2026 release window at the time of the event. Epic Games Store recap
- Lords of the Fallen 2: A cinematic trailer revealed a sequel to the 2023 reboot. Epic’s recap says its story takes place a century later. Epic Games Store recap

PC Gamer also reported that the game was early in development and the trailer contained no in-game footage. PC Gamer recap
- Fallout Season 2: The TV series received a teaser, with Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten joining the stage discussion. Epic reported a December 17, 2025 premiere date at the time. What games were shown at Gamescom ONL 2025?
Beyond the headline items, the show included fresh footage, add-ons, platform news and trailers across a broad slate. Xbox’s recap is especially useful for the games on its own presentation slate; broader event roundups list additional segments. This is a selection of notable items, not a claim to inventory every brief montage or pre-show appearance.
Gameplay, expansions and platform news
- Ninja Gaiden 4: Xbox reported fresh gameplay footage.
- The Outer Worlds 2: Xbox showed more gameplay and confirmed Xbox Series X|S support. That platform confirmation applies to this game; it should not be generalized to the rest of the showcase.
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants: The expansion received footage.
- Keeper: Xbox showed more of the game.
- Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition: Xbox reported a new expansion and a PS5 release.
- World of Warcraft: Midnight: The expansion appeared in a cinematic.
- Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds: The event lists included news of a Pac-Man crossover.
- World of Tanks 2.0: Included among the other notable event items.

Was Silksong at Gamescom Opening Night Live?
PC Gamer reported that Keighley mentioned Hollow Knight: Silksong during the show but did not reveal a release date there. A separate developer announcement came later. That distinction matters: news during the wider Gamescom week was not necessarily part of the Opening Night Live program.
