The GameSir Cyclone 2 has an Xbox-style button layout, TMR thumbsticks, Hall-effect analog triggers and several ways to connect—but it does not work with Xbox consoles. It is better understood as a feature-rich alternative for PC, Switch and mobile gaming than as an Xbox controller replacement.

Is the GameSir Cyclone 2 compatible with Xbox?

No. GameSir lists the Cyclone 2 for Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, PC and Steam, but not Xbox consoles. Independent reviews also report that it does not support Xbox Series S/X or PlayStation 5. Its default Xbox-style ABXY layout describes the button arrangement, not console compatibility.

If you want a controller to use on an Xbox console, choose a supported Xbox controller such as the Xbox Wireless Controller. The Cyclone 2 is a rival in layout and features, not a plug-in substitute for Xbox owners.

GameSir’s FAQ says the controller can switch between XInput, NS and DS4 modes by holding View and Menu. On PC, the selected mode can affect how a game recognizes the controller; this does not add Xbox-console support. GameSir Cyclone 2 FAQ

What does the Cyclone 2 offer?

TMR sticks and Hall-effect triggers

GameSir specifies Mag-Res TMR thumbsticks and Hall-effect analog triggers. TMR is a magnetic sensing approach for the sticks; Hall-effect sensors likewise detect trigger movement magnetically. These are hardware features, not evidence that a controller is guaranteed to remain drift-free for its entire life.

The triggers can also be switched to micro-switch operation using the trigger locks, and the controller offers a hair-trigger mode. That gives players options between analog travel and a more immediate click-style input, depending on the game and preferred feel. GameSir Cyclone 2 product page

  • 2-Way Trigger Lock: With trigger stops, gamers can toggle between short and long pull positions. Additionally, gamers can activate hair trigger mode by pressing M+LT/RT (triggers must be in the long pull position).
  • 1000Hz Polling Rate: This ensures that your inputs are registered almost instantaneously, minimizing lag and maximizing your performance during competitive play.
  • Mechanical Circular D-pad: Designed for quick reactions and accuracy in every direction, this D-pad elevates your gaming experience with superior responsiveness.

Extra buttons, lighting and configuration

There are two mappable rear buttons, adjustable RGB lighting and GameSir Connect software for customization. GameSir’s FAQ lists four turbo settings: slow at 8Hz, medium at 12Hz, fast at 20Hz, or off. The default button layout is Xbox-style, and GameSir says it can be changed.

Three connection options

GameSir describes wired, Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless-dongle connection modes. That flexibility can be useful when moving between supported devices or choosing between a cable and wireless play. The device still needs to be on a compatible platform and, for PC, in a mode the game recognizes.

How does it feel to play with?

The feature list is stronger than unanimous praise for the controls. PC Gamer liked the TMR sticks and Hall-effect triggers but criticized the feel of the face buttons and D-pad. TechRadar likewise described responsive sticks and praised customization, while finding the buttons shallow and clicky. Tom’s Guide also highlighted a mushy D-pad. These are reviewers’ subjective impressions; button feel is personal, so players who care most about a crisp D-pad or familiar face-button travel should weigh those comments before buying.

How long does the battery last?

GameSir lists an 860mAh battery. TechRadar reports GameSir’s estimate of about 10 hours of use, but the reviewer did not run the battery to exhaustion. Treat that as a manufacturer estimate reported by a reviewer, not a verified runtime measurement; actual endurance can vary with use and settings. TechRadar’s GameSir Cyclone 2 review
