GameStop’s reported Black Friday 2023 deal was a $50 discount on the original PlayStation 5: Tom’s Guide listed it at $449, down from its $499 list price. The offer is historical, not a current GameStop price or a live deal.
What was the GameStop PS5 Black Friday deal?
A TechTimes report published November 23, 2023, covered a GameStop Black Friday offer of up to $50 off the original PS5. Tom’s Guide’s contemporaneous roundup specifies the comparison: $449 on sale versus a $499 list price, a $50 saving. TechTimes’ November 23, 2023 report and Tom’s Guide’s Black Friday 2023 roundup document the deal.
The cited reports do not establish the exact start and end dates for this particular GameStop listing or its complete terms. The $449 figure should therefore be read as the reported 2023 sale price, not a guarantee of what the console costs now.
Was the discount for the PS5 Slim?
No. The reported $50 discount applied to the original PS5, not the PS5 Slim. Tom’s Guide listed the original console separately from a PS5 Slim Spider-Man 2 bundle. Its roundup describes the original console as larger than the Slim and says the launch unit has the same internal components; it does not establish a broader comparison of current prices, storage configurations, bundles, condition, warranty, or stock.

Is the GameStop offer still available?
The cited coverage concerns Black Friday 2023, so it does not establish an active GameStop offer today. PlayStation’s separate Black Friday 2025 announcement says participating retailer offers varied by region and retailer. That later promotion does not confirm that GameStop is currently selling the original PS5 for $449 or repeating the 2023 discount.
