Garmond and Zaza are a wandering pair of characters in Hollow Knight: Silksong: Garmond is the talkative older bug, and Zaza is his noble steed. Walkthroughs report that they appear more than once and can help Hornet in certain fights, including the Moorwing encounter and the High Halls gauntlet.
Who are Garmond and Zaza?
They are a traveling duo in Hollow Knight: Silksong, introduced as searching for a new home. The Hollow Knight Wiki reproduces their reveal-era description as: “A rambunctious older bug and his noble steed, on a quest to discover a new home. Garmond may be the chattier of the two, but Zaza could be the real brains of the pair.” That characterization is presented there as official description copy; the wiki is the source for the wording here, rather than a retrieved primary character profile. Where do you encounter them?
Greymoor and Moorwing
Game8 reports an initial encounter in Greymoor, followed by another opportunity to find the pair near Moorwing and request their aid. Its guide says the assistance opportunity depends on first encountering Garmond and Zaza and then fleeing from or dying to Moorwing. Whispering Vaults and High Halls
Silksong Wiki describes an optional Act 2 duel on the roof above the Whispering Vaults, available after opening the shortcut. The guide says winning the duel can make Garmond and Zaza available to assist in the High Halls gauntlet. Can they help in combat?
Yes, according to the walkthroughs: Game8 reports that they can assist during the Moorwing encounter, while Silksong Wiki reports possible help in the High Halls gauntlet after the optional duel. These are encounter claims from third-party guides, not publisher-confirmed character lore. The guides also contain more detailed route and combat information, but precise sequencing and combat values should be treated cautiously because they have not been independently corroborated here.
