Windows PC through Xbox and Microsoft Store
Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs can run the game through the Xbox/Microsoft Store, provided the hardware and operating-system requirements are met. Xbox’s listing identifies the PC edition as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. That means an eligible digital purchase supports the Xbox and Windows PC versions under the same account, with progression and achievements carried between them.
Steam
A separate PC edition is available on Steam. Steam lists the same core hardware bar: a 64-bit operating system and processor, DirectX 12, broadband internet, Windows-compatible audio, 115 GB of SSD space, and a graphics card with hardware ray tracing. Steam ownership is separate from Xbox Play Anywhere entitlements, so check which storefront you intend to use before buying.
Game Pass and launch timing
Xbox lists E-Day in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one. Xbox Wire reported that pre-install began September 29, 2026, ahead of the worldwide October 6 launch. A subscription only helps if it is active in the account and tier you plan to use; access can change when a title leaves a catalog.
PC system requirements
The following table reproduces the published minimum and recommended configurations. Where several processors or graphics cards are listed, any one of the alternatives satisfies that particular line; they are not a requirement to own every model.

What the minimum requirement means in practice
Ray tracing is a hard compatibility gate
The unusual part of this specification is not simply the named RTX and Radeon models; it is the requirement for hardware ray tracing. A much older card can sometimes deliver acceptable rasterized performance in other games, but it does not meet E-Day’s published minimum if it lacks hardware ray-tracing support. Check the exact GPU model, not just its memory capacity or an old benchmark score.
CPU and memory headroom
The minimum processor choices span older six-core-class parts and a newer mainstream Core i5. The recommended tier moves to Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-11600K and raises memory from 12 GB to 16 GB. A system that only just meets the minimum may have less room for background applications, recording software, browser tabs, or future patches. Close unnecessary programs before troubleshooting stutter, but do not treat that as a substitute for meeting the listed specification.
Windows versions are specific
For the minimum tier, Steam names Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 and build 19045.7291. The recommended tier calls for Windows 11 64-bit 25H2 or newer. Confirm your edition and build in Settings > System > About before installation. A 32-bit Windows installation cannot satisfy the requirement, regardless of processor capability.
SSD capacity is mandatory
The 115 GB figure is available space, not the advertised capacity printed on a drive. Leave additional room for Windows, shader caches, save files, and updates; a drive that has exactly 115 GB free can fall below the threshold during installation. The requirement explicitly says SSD, so a hard-drive-only system does not meet the published baseline.

How to check whether your PC can run E-Day
- Identify Windows and architecture. Open Settings > System > About and verify a 64-bit installation. Record the Windows version and build number.
- Check the processor. In the same page, note the CPU model and compare it with one of the minimum or recommended entries in the table. Model numbers matter more than a generic label such as “Ryzen 5.”
- Check installed memory. Windows reports total RAM under Settings > System > About. Remember that the game’s minimum and recommended figures refer to system memory, not graphics-card VRAM.
- Verify the GPU and ray tracing. Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display or use your graphics driver’s information panel to identify the exact card. Confirm that it supports hardware ray tracing and that DirectX 12 is available.
- Measure free SSD space. In File Explorer, right-click the target SSD and choose Properties. Compare free space, not total capacity, with the installation requirement and leave update headroom.
- Confirm broadband access. The published requirements call for broadband internet. You will also need a Microsoft or Steam account matching the storefront you choose.
Upgrade decisions for borderline systems
If your GPU lacks hardware ray tracing
Replace the graphics card before considering small CPU or RAM changes. The lack of ray-tracing hardware is a compatibility problem, not merely a setting that can be turned off. Choose a card at least within the published minimum class, and check your power supply, case clearance, and available connectors before purchase.
If you have an HDD but a qualifying GPU
Move the installation to an SSD. The storage type is explicit, and installing on a hard drive is outside the supported minimum even when the processor and graphics card qualify. Keep the SSD’s firmware and motherboard storage drivers current if you encounter installation or loading errors.
If you have 8 GB of RAM
Adding memory to reach the published minimum is more useful than relying on a faster graphics card while the system is short on system RAM. Use a compatible matched kit where possible, enable the motherboard’s supported memory profile, and verify the new total in Windows before launching.

Performance expectations and display claims
Xbox describes a 4K and up to 60FPS target as a feature of the game experience, but that is not a guaranteed frame rate for every PC. Actual results vary with resolution, graphics settings, ray-tracing workload, drivers, thermals, and background processes; no publisher or independent benchmark figure establishes a universal PC frame rate. Treat the recommended tier as the safer starting point for higher settings, not as a promise that every scene will hold 60 frames per second.
Before changing advanced settings, install current graphics drivers, select the correct GPU on laptops with integrated and discrete graphics, and allow shader compilation to finish. If frame pacing remains poor, lower resolution or ray-tracing quality first and monitor GPU temperature and utilization rather than relying on a single average reading.

Horde Siege and Versus
Horde Siege is the expanded player-versus-environment mode, while Versus is the competitive player-versus-player offering. Xbox groups these modes and other online features under the same online-multiplayer subscription requirement. On console, verify that the Game Pass tier attached to your account includes online multiplayer before inviting friends.
Which edition should you choose?
| Use case | Best fit | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| You own an Xbox Series X|S and want the simplest console setup | Xbox edition | Supports solo play, two-player split-screen, online co-op, Horde Siege, and Versus; online features require an eligible Game Pass subscription. |
| You want a PC version tied to your Xbox account | Xbox/Microsoft Store PC edition | Included with PC Game Pass and covered by Xbox Play Anywhere for eligible digital purchases, with shared progression and achievements. |
| You already use Steam for PC games | Steam edition | Uses the same published PC hardware requirements, but Steam ownership is separate from Xbox Play Anywhere entitlements. |
| You want to sample the game without a standalone purchase | Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass | Xbox lists E-Day as a day-one inclusion; continued access depends on an active subscription and catalog availability. |
Installation and troubleshooting checklist
- Not enough space: clear more than the stated requirement, select an SSD with ample free capacity, and avoid installing to a nearly full system drive.
- GPU warning: confirm the exact model and hardware ray-tracing support; integrated graphics and older non-ray-tracing cards do not satisfy the published minimum.
- DirectX or driver error: update Windows and the GPU driver, restart, then verify the game files in Steam or the Xbox app.
- Online mode unavailable: check that the account owns the game or has an active eligible Game Pass plan and that the plan includes online multiplayer on Xbox.
- Cross-progression missing: sign in with the same Microsoft account on the Xbox and Windows Xbox editions. A Steam purchase does not automatically convert into an Xbox Play Anywhere entitlement.
- Install blocked by Windows: confirm 64-bit Windows and the required build, then apply pending updates before retrying.
Release-day facts worth planning around
Because pre-install opened on September 29, 2026, downloading before October 6 can avoid launch-day queueing, but it does not remove the need for free SSD space or a qualifying graphics card. The worldwide release date applies to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Steam; regional store timing can still affect when a local storefront unlocks the game.
For the most reliable setup, choose the storefront that matches where you want your license and progression to live, verify ray-tracing support before buying hardware, install to an SSD with update headroom, and use the recommended tier as a performance target rather than a frame-rate guarantee.
