Those are historical addition dates—not confirmation that either game is included in a particular plan today.
What Xbox announced
In an Xbox Wire roundup published August 19, 2025, Xbox Game Pass Senior Community Lead Megan Spurr listed both games for Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement named Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass for Gears of War: Reloaded; for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it listed Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and EA Play. Read Xbox’s August 19 roundup.
| Game | Announced date | Platforms listed | Access route in the announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gears of War: Reloaded | August 26, 2025 | Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S | Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass |
| Dragon Age: The Veilguard | August 28, 2025 | Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S | Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and EA Play |
How the two access announcements differed
Gears of War: Reloaded
Xbox described Reloaded as a remaster of the first blockbuster Gears of War, with the post-launch content from Ultimate Edition. Its announcement specifies a bonus campaign act, multiplayer maps and modes, plus classic characters and cosmetics unlocked through progression. The campaign supports two-player co-op, while Versus supports up to eight players. Xbox also described cross-play across platforms and cross-progression. Xbox’s May 2025 launch announcement set an August 26, 2025 launch and a $39.99 suggested retail price. That was the launch MSRP, not a current price. The same post named Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam as launch platforms, and said owners of the digital Gears of War: Ultimate Edition would receive a free upgrade.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
The August roundup called The Veilguard a single-player RPG and said it was coming to “The Play List.” A dedicated Xbox Wire post published August 20 clarified the route and date: Dragon Age: The Veilguard would come to EA Play on August 28, 2025. Read the dedicated EA Play announcement.

Is either game included in Game Pass now?
The 2025 posts establish when Xbox announced the additions and which access routes it named then; they do not establish today’s catalog or plan eligibility. Catalog availability can change and may depend on region. Check the live catalog and the terms for your region and subscription before relying on inclusion. Xbox’s Gears of War: Reloaded listing has surfaced with Game Pass access language, but that does not establish current Dragon Age eligibility or guarantee the same access for every plan.
