A Safehouse in the Hills is a released GTA Online update, available since December 10, 2025. It adds three purchasable mansions, the KnoWay Out mission series, new vehicles, Michael De Santa’s return, and the Rockstar Mission Creator. Here’s what the update includes, what the mansions cost according to a December 2025 guide, and how that guide says to unlock Michael’s mission.
What’s in A Safehouse in the Hills?
Rockstar’s announcement describes an update built around new mansion properties in three Los Santos locations. It also adds the KnoWay Out mission series, involving a self-driving vehicle startup’s surveillance network; new vehicles; and the Rockstar Mission Creator. The update is available, not an upcoming release.
Take-Two’s investor presentation also identifies the return of Michael De Santa, new missions and vehicles, mansion properties, exclusive GTA+ benefits, and the Mission Creator. Take-Two described the update as “one of the best-performing updates in its history”; that is the publisher’s characterization, not an independently established ranking or a published update-specific player count.

Rockstar’s announcement names three examples from the new vehicle slate:

Which mansions can you buy, and how much do they cost?
Epic Games Store’s guide, published December 15, 2025, lists these in-game prices. They are a dated snapshot in GTA$, not real-world prices; check the in-game purchase screen for current prices, discounts, and availability.

The available descriptions establish different locations and prices, but do not establish a gameplay advantage for one mansion over another. Epic’s guide says each includes a 20-car garage and an in-house salon by default. It also lists optional rooms and services with these example prices:

All figures in these tables are the prices reported in Epic’s December 15, 2025 guide. They may change. The armory and vehicle workshop add practical functions; the arcade and podium are entertainment or display options. Consider the optional costs separately from the mansion purchase rather than treating every upgrade as required.
How do you unlock the mission with Michael?
Epic’s guide says the route to the mission featuring Michael De Santa requires completing the KnoWay Out contact missions and purchasing any one of the three mansions. It identifies Avi Schwartzman as the initial contact and the culminating mansion-defense mission as Home Sweet Home. Treat this as the guide’s reported unlock sequence; the game’s current prompts and triggers are the final authority if the sequence differs in your build.

How do you use the Rockstar Mission Creator?
Epic’s guide gives this pause-menu route: Online > Rockstar Creator > Create a Mission. It says the creator lets players build missions using cutscenes, interiors and special locations, objectives, and enemies. Menu labels and available tools can change between game builds, so use the labels shown in your current game if they differ.
Do you need a separate purchase or special accessory?
A Safehouse in the Hills is GTA Online update content, not a separately sold physical item. Players need access to GTA Online through Grand Theft Auto V; if you do not own the game, choose a listing that matches your platform and desired edition.
