Gears of War: Reloaded is a remaster of the original 2006 game, not a new sequel. It launched on August 26, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5 and Steam, bringing the original campaign and the breadth of Ultimate Edition content to PlayStation for the first time. It supports cross-play across platforms; a Microsoft account is optional for cross-play but needed for cross-platform invites and cross-progression.
What does Gears of War: Reloaded include?
Developed by The Coalition with Sumo Digital and Disbelief, Reloaded remasters the first Gears of War, originally released in 2006. Xbox describes it as containing the breadth of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition content, including the bonus campaign act, multiplayer maps and modes, and classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression. The official Gears of War: Reloaded page says this content is included at no extra cost.

Where can you play it, and how did access differ?
The game launched August 26, 2025, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PS5 and Steam. At launch, Xbox announced a US suggested retail price of $39.99 and inclusion in PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate. Those were launch terms; they do not establish today’s price or subscription-catalog availability in a particular region. Check the relevant store for current terms. Xbox lists the game as Xbox Play Anywhere for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC, allowing access across those Xbox ecosystems under that program.
The PlayStation version adds DualSense haptic feedback, controller-speaker support and adaptive triggers. On PS5 Pro, PlayStation lists PlayStation Super Spectral Resolution (PSSR) and improved shadow and reflection quality. Online console multiplayer on PS5 requires PlayStation Plus, sold separately. On PC, Xbox lists ultrawide support, a benchmark mode, mouse and keyboard, controller remapping, VRR, AMD FSR 3.1 and NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 Super Resolution. Feature availability and performance depend on the hardware and display in use.
Does Gears of War: Reloaded have cross-play and cross-progression?
Yes. Cross-play lets players on supported platforms play together. Campaign co-op supports two players, online or split-screen; Versus supports up to eight. Xbox says cross-play does not require a Microsoft account. Signing in with one enables cross-platform invites and carries campaign and multiplayer progression between devices. This is distinct from cross-play: players can play together without signing in, but the account is needed for those invite and progression features.

What performance and presentation does the publisher advertise?
Xbox advertises 4K resolution, 60 frames per second in Campaign and up to 120 frames per second in Multiplayer, alongside HDR, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, 7.1 spatial audio, VRR, remastered assets and visual effects, and no campaign loading screens. These are publisher-listed specifications, not independent performance measurements; supported displays are required for features such as 4K, HDR and high frame rates. Is Gears of War: Reloaded available physically on PS5?
An August 2025 report by MeriStation said a physical edition was planned for PS5 and that Xbox Series X would not have one. That is secondary reporting, not confirmation of current stock or availability in every region. Check local retailer listings for the edition, region, price and stock before buying.

What accessibility options are listed for PS5?
PlayStation lists clear text, color alternatives, high-contrast visuals, basic screen-reader functionality, basic subtitles for the main story and main characters, controller remapping, and adjustable stick sensitivity and inversion. The product page cautions that the screen reader may not communicate all gameplay-related information.
