Geek Chic ceased operations in June 2017. Its founder announced the closure but did not give a specific reason, and the available reporting does not establish what happened to every customer order. Uniquely Geek later developed a table inspired by Geek Chic’s Vizier; it is a separate maker, not a continuation of Geek Chic.
When did Geek Chic close?
On June 13, 2017, Gameosity reported that Geek Chic had ceased operation and reproduced a statement from founder Robert Gifford: “It is with great sadness that I must announce Geek Chic has ceased operation.” Gifford said the outcome was “out of our hands,” expressed regret, and noted the company was limited in its ability to respond to outstanding questions. The statement did not name a cause. Gameosity’s June 13, 2017 report is a contemporary account of the announcement.
Why did Geek Chic go out of business?
The public announcement did not explain why the company closed. The Cardboard Republic also reported at the time that the cause was unknown, while identifying possible explanations as speculation. Discussion of financial, operational, competition, staffing, side-venture, or acquisition-related causes should not be treated as established fact without evidence. The Cardboard Republic’s June 2017 coverage distinguished uncertainty from conjecture.
What happened to customers’ outstanding orders?
A June 19, 2017 post on r/boardgames gives one customer’s account: the poster said they had ordered a custom table the previous year, had a planned delivery, could no longer reach a company contact, and saw a closure notice on Geek Chic’s website. That account explains why customers asked what would happen to their orders, but it does not establish how many orders were outstanding or whether any particular order, deposit, or refund was ultimately resolved. The customer’s Reddit post is an individual report, not an aggregate record.

Did another company continue Geek Chic’s tables?
No. Uniquely Geek is a separate custom-table maker. In 2018, its founder Robert Githens wrote that former Geek Chic customers had approached the company as a comparable manufacturer. In a later account, he said customer requests for a reproduction of Geek Chic’s Vizier led Uniquely Geek to develop a table called the Legacy. The company described design changes, including adjustments to proportions and hardware; it was an inspired reproduction, not the original product or a return of Geek Chic. See Githens’s June 2018 account and Uniquely Geek’s description of the Legacy.
Can you buy a Geek Chic-style table now?
Uniquely Geek’s website currently lists custom gaming tables and accessories, but its visible production-time notice includes dates from 2023 and 2024. Those dates are not a reliable current lead-time estimate. Ask the maker directly to confirm whether it is accepting orders, where it delivers, current specifications, timing, and total quoted cost. Its current website is the place to check its listings; confirm details before placing an order.

- Materials and construction: Get the material and finish specifications in writing.
- Delivery and timing: Confirm delivery geography, the current production estimate, shipping arrangements, and what happens if timing changes.
- Service and total cost: Ask about warranty or repair support and request a complete quote, including delivery and any options.
Available sources do not provide a current, independently comparable set of prices or lead times across makers, so they do not support a meaningful ranking or price comparison.

- DESIGNED FOR PANORAMIC "FISH TANK" CASES: Unlike standard desks that hide your rig, our exclusive elevated desktop stand is engineered to be the ultimate stage for your premium tempered glass PC case (compatible with Lian Li O11, Hyte Y60, etc.). It lifts your chassis to eye level, maximizing the visibility of your internal components and RGB setup while protecting it from floor dust. Turn your PC into the centerpiece of your room
- IMMERSIVE RGB AMBIENCE SYSTEM: Elevate your gaming experience with our integrated RGB LED lighting strip underneath the monitor shelf. Designed to sync visually with your PC's internal lighting, it creates a seamless, glowing ecosystem that extends from your case to your entire desktop. Perfect for creating that "streamer-ready" vibe day or night.
- TRI-DRAWER CLUTTER CONTROL: Displaying a PC on the desk usually sacrifices workspace. We solved this with 3 spacious built-in FABRIC drawers that swallow up cables, controllers, and accessories. This ensures your desktop remains a minimalist, clean canvas, allowing your "Panoramic View" PC and monitor setup to shine without visual distractions.
- SIDE DISPLAY SHELF FOR COLLECTIBLES: Your setup is an expression of your personality. The dedicated side shelf with an overhead top board is crafted specifically for displaying your favorite action figures, Funko Pops, or speakers. It utilizes vertical space efficiently, adding depth to your battle station without blocking the airflow or view of your main rig.
- HEAVY-DUTY "SHOWCASE" FOUNDATION: Understanding that panoramic builds are heavy (glass panels + GPUs), we reinforced the structure with environmental material, e.g., Industrial Steel Frame and a thick desktop board. The elevated stand is rigorously tested to support heavy middle-tower cases without wobbling, ensuring your expensive hardware is safe and stable during intense gaming sessions.
