Yes. Google announced Chromebook access to more than 2,000 PC games through the GeForce NOW Fast Pass on November 20, 2025. That figure describes the Chromebook Fast Pass offer at the time—not a permanent limit or the whole service catalog. NVIDIA’s current FAQ lists more than 4,500 GeForce NOW games, including both ready-to-stream and Install-to-Play titles.
What “over 2,000 games” means
Google’s 2025 Chromebook announcement said the GeForce NOW Fast Pass could stream “over 2000 PC games” from NVIDIA GeForce RTX servers to a Chromebook. NVIDIA subsequently described more than 2,300 games in a Blackwell announcement, while its current FAQ reports over 4,500 games across the service. Catalog totals therefore change as publishers add, remove or enable titles.
Chromebook users do not receive a separate, permanent Chromebook catalog. A game must be supported by GeForce NOW and available in a linked store or library. Publisher participation can also change availability.
Do you need to buy the games again?
No, not when you already own a supported game. GeForce NOW streams the game from NVIDIA’s cloud and can connect accounts from Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox and other supported libraries. You sign in to the relevant store account, then launch an eligible title on the cloud rig.

Ready-to-Play and Install-to-Play
- Ready-to-Play: NVIDIA maintains the game for immediate streaming.
- Install-to-Play: Premium members can install supported Steam games into cloud storage before playing. The game still has to be owned in the connected Steam account.
Check the current GeForce NOW games list before buying a title specifically for cloud play; ownership alone does not guarantee support.
How to start GeForce NOW on a Chromebook
- Choose an access route. Install the GeForce NOW app from Google Play, or open play.geforcenow.com in Chrome OS using Chrome 77.x or later.
- Sign in or create an NVIDIA account. Select the available Free, Performance or Ultimate option.
- Connect your game stores. Link Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox or another supported library and complete any store sign-in prompts.
- Search for a supported game. Start it from the GeForce NOW library and follow the store’s first-launch steps if requested.
- Connect controls. Use the Chromebook keyboard and trackpad for compatible games, but NVIDIA recommends a USB gaming mouse. Xbox controllers and Sony DualSense or DualShock 4 controllers are supported; other gamepads may require firmware, drivers or updates.
If Google Play shows an “Open” button but says streaming is unsupported, NVIDIA’s Chromebook guidance is to launch GeForce NOW from the Chromebook app drawer instead.

Chromebook network requirements
Your connection must be fast and stable enough to receive a live video stream while sending controller or mouse input. NVIDIA’s Chromebook targets are:
| Target stream | Minimum bandwidth | Chromebook note |
|---|---|---|
| HD, up to 60 FPS | 15 Mbps | Lower-resolution play |
| Full HD, 60 FPS | 25 Mbps | Requires suitable plan, game and display |
| QHD, 120 FPS | 35 Mbps | Requires Ultimate and compatible hardware/display |
NVIDIA recommends less than 80 ms latency to an NVIDIA data center. Use wired Ethernet where practical, or connect through a 5 GHz Wi-Fi router. A speed test can meet the bandwidth target while high latency, congestion or packet loss still causes blur, stutter or input delay.

Which GeForce NOW tier fits a Chromebook?
| Tier | Queue and access | Ads | Session length | Resolution and frame rate | Rig and features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Basic access; queues and availability vary | Service advertising may apply | Not stated in the supplied specifications | Basic capability; varies by game and availability | Basic rigs; Install-to-Play not identified as included |
| Performance | Higher priority than Free | Not stated | Not stated | Up to 1440p at 60 FPS, according to NVIDIA’s FAQ | Performance rigs; Install-to-Play availability depends on the title and plan |
| Ultimate | Highest-priority access | Not stated | Not stated | Required for 1600p and 120 FPS on Chromebook | First access to RTX 5080 virtual rigs; Install-to-Play is available to premium members for supported Steam titles |
Google’s 2025 Fast Pass description also promised no ads and queue skipping, with 10 hours of play per month and up to five unused hours rolling over. Those allowances describe that Fast Pass offer, not every GeForce NOW membership or a permanent Chromebook entitlement.
What to check when a game does not work
- The title is missing: confirm it is on the current GeForce NOW list and that the publisher still permits streaming.
- You own it but cannot launch it: verify that the correct Steam, Epic or Xbox account is linked and that the exact edition is supported.
- Video is blurry or stutters: move to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet, stop competing downloads and check latency to an NVIDIA data center.
- Controls do not respond: reconnect the USB mouse or controller, update controller firmware and try the Chromebook app rather than the browser.
- You want 120 FPS or 1600p: use Ultimate and confirm that the Chromebook, display and game support the target output.
Bottom line for Chromebook owners
The “over 2,000 games” statement is accurate for Google’s November 2025 Chromebook Fast Pass announcement. Today, NVIDIA advertises a larger overall catalog of more than 4,500 games, but the titles you can play depend on supported publishers, linked ownership and your GeForce NOW tier. A Chromebook with Chrome 77.x or newer, a sub-80 ms connection and a supported mouse or controller can access the service without installing full PC games locally.
