NVIDIA really did bundle Dragon Age: The Veilguard with a qualifying six-month GeForce NOW Ultimate purchase in October 2024, but the limited-time promotion has ended. Buying Ultimate now should not be expected to include the game.
What the promotion actually offered
NVIDIA announced the deal on October 17, 2024, ahead of Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s October 31 launch. Its wording covered “new and existing members” who purchased six months of GeForce NOW Ultimate. The game was offered as a promotional benefit, rather than as a permanent entitlement for every Ultimate subscriber.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
The six-month Ultimate plan was priced at approximately $99.99 at the time. That meant “free” described the game’s inclusion with a paid subscription; it was not a no-strings giveaway, and a one-month Ultimate subscription was not identified as qualifying. NVIDIA’s announcement did not clearly specify a Deluxe Edition or every detail of the redemption flow, so those should not be assumed.

Did existing subscribers qualify?
Existing members were included in NVIDIA’s eligibility language, but the qualifying action was still purchasing the six-month offer. That does not establish that everyone who already had an active six-month plan received the game automatically or that previous purchases were retroactively eligible.
#1 Best Overall
- This video game is an immersive action role-playing game (RPG). Play Dragon Age: The Veilguard and become the leader others believe in
- SAVE A BATTERED WORLD - Enter Thedas, a vibrant world of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths and glittering cities. The world is teetering on a knife’s edge while corrupt gods unleash havoc across the continent. Nations war and factions splinter. Who will you trust? From the Arlathan Forest to the back alleys of Minrathous, this is a broken world. Your actions will affect the fate of Thedas forever.
- Unite THE VEILGUARD - Unite a team of seven companions, each with rich lives and deep backstories. These are characters to befriend, and even fall in love with. Among them, an assassin, a necromancer, a detective, each and all bringing their own expertise and unique abilities to the fight. You are never alone, decide who to take into battle and together face down demons, dragons and corrupt gods.
- BECOME THE LEADER OTHERS BELIEVE IN - Select from different races and combat classes, customize your appearance, choose your character’s backstory and begin your journey as Rook, Dragon Age’s newest hero. The choice is yours. Brace yourself, there are tough decisions to be made, allies to inspire, and a fight that needs every sword, staff and bow you can muster.
Cases involving monthly subscribers, early renewals, tier changes, or recently renewed plans were account-specific. The safest interpretation is that existing members could participate when they made the qualifying six-month purchase during the promotional window.
Was this a free game or free cloud access?
It was a promotional copy of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, not merely temporary permission to stream the game. GeForce NOW itself is the cloud-gaming service: it supplies remote hardware and streams supported PC games, while users generally still need an entitlement through a supported publisher or PC storefront.
That distinction matters. A GeForce NOW membership does not automatically include every game in its catalog, and the old promotion should not be described as though The Veilguard became part of the service for all members. The available NVIDIA announcement also does not conclusively identify the storefront or prove that the offer delivered a Steam key.

Any entitlement should be redeemed to the correct account. EA’s PC terms state that an EA Account and the EA app are required for the EA purchase path, and access is associated with one account rather than being freely transferable.
Where could you play it?
EA lists Dragon Age: The Veilguard for Windows through the EA app, Steam, and Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The GeForce NOW promotion concerned the PC version; it did not provide console access.
EA’s listed base PC price is $59.99. Subtracting that from the historical $99.99 six-month Ultimate price produces an effective subscription cost of about $40—but only for someone who would have bought the game anyway. It was not an official $40 GeForce NOW price or universal savings figure.

What Ultimate provided in 2024
During the promotion, NVIDIA positioned Ultimate around RTX 4080-class cloud hardware and high-end streaming features, including advertised support for up to 4K at 120 frames per second in suitable circumstances. Features such as ray tracing, DLSS, Reflex, and HDR depended on the game, device, display, region, and connection.
Those specifications should not be presented as current. NVIDIA’s later GeForce NOW materials describe RTX 5080-class servers, while the current marketplace advertises up to 5K resolution and 360 FPS for compatible configurations. Current capabilities are not evidence of what the 2024 bundle delivered.
What you needed to use the deal
Cloud gaming removed the need for a powerful local gaming PC, but it did not remove the need for:

- Posters come rolled in a plastic sleeve and shipped in a sturdy cardboard tube

- a supported device and compatible account;
- a qualifying PC game entitlement;
- a stable, sufficiently fast internet connection;
- low enough latency to a GeForce NOW data center; and
- a display and network capable of the selected stream quality.
Wi-Fi congestion, routing, distance from a server, regional availability, and display limits could all affect image quality and responsiveness. A 4K/120 FPS result was never guaranteed for every subscriber.
EA listed no online connection requirement for ordinary local PC play. GeForce NOW play is different: an internet connection is essential because the game runs on NVIDIA’s servers and is streamed to you.
Is the giveaway still available?
Not as the 2024 promotion. It was tied to the game’s October 2024 launch and described as limited-time. As of 2026, NVIDIA’s current GeForce NOW marketplace lists active plans without presenting the old Dragon Age bundle. Do not subscribe to Ultimate expecting to receive it.
Current ways to play The Veilguard
| Option | Best for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Buy the PC game | Players who want a permanent PC purchase and have suitable hardware, or plan to use a compatible cloud service. | The game price and edition vary by storefront; EA’s base PC listing shows $59.99. |
| EA Play | Players who want a lower-cost way to access the game temporarily. | EA currently lists The Veilguard in the Play List at $5.99 per month, but subscription access is not the same as permanent ownership. |
| GeForce NOW | Players without a capable gaming PC who already own or separately acquire a supported PC copy. | The subscription provides cloud hardware and streaming, not automatic access to every catalog game. Current Ultimate pricing and specifications are separate from the expired bundle. |
NVIDIA’s marketplace currently signals GeForce NOW Ultimate at $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year, with cheaper Performance and free tiers also listed. These are current service options, not replacements for the 2024 giveaway.
Bottom line
The headline was accurate only as a historical description: NVIDIA offered Dragon Age: The Veilguard with a qualifying six-month GeForce NOW Ultimate purchase during the October 2024 promotional period. It was not free for every Ultimate subscriber, it did not grant console access, and it is not a current reason to buy Ultimate. In 2026, choose direct purchase, EA Play, or GeForce NOW based on whether you want ownership, temporary subscription access, or cloud hardware.
