The best Genshin Impact fishing spot depends on the fish you want: fish are found at particular locations, and some spots have different catches by in-game time. Pick a target species or Fishing Association reward, find a spot listing that fish, then check both its day and night pools before you travel.
How to choose a fishing spot
- Choose your target. Decide whether you need a specific fish for cooking or an exchange at a regional Fishing Association. Association inventories and rewards differ by region, according to HoYoverse’s Version 2.1 update explanation.
- Find a spot that lists it. Consult a regional location guide or map, such as Game8’s fishing spot guide or GameWith’s fishing guide. Fishing points are not interchangeable: for example, HoYoDex lists Raimei Angelfish at Tatarasuna and Peach of the Deep Waves at Mawtiyima Forest.
- Check the in-game time. Fish pools can differ between day, 06:00–18:00, and night, 18:00–06:00. If the species is absent, use the in-game clock to check the other period before abandoning the location.
- Prepare the right bait. HoYoverse says bait recipes are learned from Inventory > Precious Items and crafted at a Crafting Bench. Different bait types attract different fish, so bring bait appropriate to the target.
- Consider your route. Prefer a spot in a region you can reach and that contributes to your desired exchange. The available location guides do not establish an objectively fastest route or compare travel times.
For precise location and species names, HoYoDex’s Fishing Point database is a community-maintained reference; check the live game if a listing matters to your route.
Fishing spots by region
Use a regional guide or interactive map to find locations, then confirm the fish pool and time at each candidate spot. Game8’s guide covers Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and additional map areas. Its page reported 76 spots when last updated on January 14, 2026; that is the guide’s dated coverage count, not a verified game-wide total for October 2026.
Unlock fishing and use your catch
Fishing became a permanent system in Version 2.1. HoYoverse says players can fish at spots throughout Teyvat after completing the corresponding World Quests and unlocking the system. The precise progression can depend on your in-game quest state; Game8’s Fishing System Guide describes the unlock in connection with the fishing quest and housing-system progression.

#1 Best Overall
The basic loop is to prepare bait, go to a fishing spot, and fish. Caught fish can be used as cooking ingredients or exchanged for items at regional Fishing Associations. The associations’ inventories differ by region.

HoYoDex reports that fish respawn every 72 hours. This is a community-maintained database’s interval, not an official figure confirmed in HoYoverse’s Version 2.1 explanation. If a spot is depleted, use that interval as a guide rather than treating it as an official guarantee.
