What linking accounts actually does
Linking connects another login method—such as Google, Apple, Facebook, X/Twitter, PlayStation Network, or Microsoft—to an existing HoYoverse account. It does not merge two separate Genshin save files.

Before linking or unlinking
- Open Genshin on the device where the correct progress is visible.
- Go to Settings → Account → User Center.
- Record your UID, server, linked email or username, and connected accounts.
- Confirm that the account has a working email and password.
- Do not unlink your only recovery method.
- Do not continue playing on a blank account while troubleshooting.
Your UID and server are the quickest way to confirm that the expected save has loaded. HoYoverse also recommends checking account connections in the HoYoverse Account Center.
How to link an email and password
On the device showing the desired account, open Settings → Account → User Center, choose the email-linking option, enter an accessible email address, verify it, and set a password. The email must not already be attached to another HoYoverse account where applicable.
You can also use the Account Center: open Personal Information → Email → Link. A linked email cannot simply be removed later; it must be changed to another email. Test the email-and-password login before signing out of the original session. Never share your password or verification codes.

How to use the same account on another device
On the new device, choose the existing-account login option and enter the same HoYoverse email or username and password. Before playing, check the UID and server. This applies when moving between PC, mobile, PlayStation, and Xbox, subject to the platform-specific procedures below.

Linking PlayStation
PC or mobile progress to PlayStation
- Launch Genshin Impact on PlayStation for the first time.
- Choose Login with existing account when prompted.
- Sign in with the HoYoverse account containing your progress.
- Confirm that the correct UID and server appear.
Do not choose the account-creation option if you already have a HoYoverse account. Doing so can bind your PSN account to a new, empty HoYoverse account. See HoYoverse’s PlayStation linking instructions.
PlayStation-created account to PC or mobile
If you started on PlayStation, Genshin may have created and linked a HoYoverse account automatically. On PlayStation, open Settings → Account → User Center, link an email, verify it, and set a password. Use those credentials on PC or mobile.
Unlinking PlayStation Network
First ensure the HoYoverse account has a working email and password. Then sign in to the HoYoverse Account Center, open Linked Accounts, find PlayStation Network, choose Unlink, and complete verification. Relaunch Genshin on PlayStation and choose Login with existing account.

If the wrong account was linked to PlayStation
- Sign in to the HoYoverse Account Center using the credentials for the incorrectly linked account.
- Open Linked Accounts and unlink PlayStation Network.
- Relaunch Genshin on PlayStation.
- Choose Login with existing account.
- Sign in to the HoYoverse account containing the desired progress.
If the accidental account has no email, open it on PlayStation first and secure it with an unused email and password before unlinking PSN.
Linking and unlinking Xbox
Existing account to Xbox
- Secure your main HoYoverse account with a working email and password.
- Launch Genshin on Xbox.
- Choose Already have an account? Log in directly.
- Enter the main HoYoverse credentials.
- Check the UID and server.
HoYoverse recommends using a Microsoft account that has not previously been used for a HoYoverse game where possible. Follow its Xbox account-linking guidance.
If Xbox opened a new account
- On Xbox, open Settings → Account → User Center → Link Account.
- Link the new Xbox-created account to an unused email and set a password.
- Sign in to the HoYoverse Account Center with those credentials.
- Open the linked or associated accounts area and unlink Microsoft.
- Relaunch Genshin on Xbox.
- Choose Already have an account? Log in directly.
- Sign in to the HoYoverse account containing your original progress.
Microsoft/Xbox self-unlinking is limited to once according to HoYoverse’s Microsoft account instructions.
Linking social and mobile login methods
- Facebook and X/Twitter: Link through the HoYoverse Account Center’s Linked Accounts section or in-game through Settings → Account → User Center.
- Google: Link through a HoYoverse game on Android, using the User Center.
- Apple and Game Center: Link through a HoYoverse game on iOS, using the User Center.
Google login is not interchangeable with ordinary email login, and Apple ID is not interchangeable with Game Center. These platform-specific methods may open different HoYoverse accounts even when the displayed email address is similar. See HoYoverse’s social-account linking guide.

How to unlink social accounts
Facebook and X/Twitter can generally be unlinked through Linked Accounts in the Account Center or through Settings → Account → User Center.
Google must be unlinked through the User Center on Android. Apple and Game Center must be unlinked through the User Center on iOS. If the third-party method is your only login, link an email or username and set a password first.
After unlinking, using that third-party login again may create a new HoYoverse game account instead of reopening the original one. Do not use it as a test login. Details are in HoYoverse’s social-account unlinking instructions.
If your Genshin progress appears missing
- Check the server. The correct account on the wrong server can look empty. On PlayStation, the server is determined by the PSN account’s region.
- Check the UID. A different UID means you are viewing a different account or server.
- Repeat the original login method. Try HoYoverse email/password, username/password, Google, Apple, Game Center, Facebook, X/Twitter, PSN, or Microsoft as appropriate.
- Check for a platform-created account. This is common after first launching on PlayStation or Xbox.
- Stop creating new logins. Repeated attempts can produce more empty accounts and make identification harder.
- Contact HoYoverse support. Include your UID, screenshots of the error or account state, and a concise explanation. For Xbox issues, HoYoverse specifically requests this information.
Changing devices does not normally delete progress. HoYoverse’s missing-progress guidance recommends checking the account, login method, and server first.
Account-security checklist
- Use a verified, long-term email address.
- Use a unique, strong password.
- Keep at least one additional trusted recovery method where practical.
- Store your UID and server privately.
- Do not share, buy, or sell accounts.
- Avoid unofficial top-up services.
- Never share passwords or verification codes.
