Before Natlan launched in Version 5.0, a leak roundup predicted a region roughly the size of Sumeru’s Version 3.1 map, named three tribe-settlement locations, and estimated 13–14 underground caves. Those were pre-release claims, not confirmed measurements or an official cave count. HoYoverse later confirmed that Natlan has six main tribes and described its varied terrain, but its announcement did not verify the leaked map details.
What the pre-release Natlan map leaks claimed
In an August 16, 2024 article, Beebom’s Sanmay Chakrabarti summarized alleged map leaks ahead of Natlan’s Version 5.0 launch. The report offered an early picture of the region’s expected scale, settlement positions, and underground areas—not an official map specification.
- Size: The report said the Version 5.0 area was expected to be about as large as Sumeru’s Version 3.1 map. It did not provide a consistent area measurement, so this is an analogy rather than a measured comparison.
- Settlements: It described leaked locations for the People of the Springs, Scions of the Canopy, and Children of Echoes, and placed the Scions of the Canopy nearest Natlan’s main city.
- Caves: It attributed an estimate of 13–14 underground caves to leaks, with each cave allegedly having one to four layers. The caves were described as complex, though less complex than Sumeru’s.
All three details come from the dated pre-release report, not from HoYoverse. The specific placements and cave estimate should not be treated as a verified count or as a current map guide. Read Beebom’s August 16, 2024 leak roundup.
What HoYoverse officially confirmed about Natlan
In its August 28, 2024 announcement, HoYoverse called Natlan Genshin Impact’s sixth major nation, located west of the Sumeru desert, and confirmed that its people are divided into six main tribes. The announcement connects three of those tribes with distinct environments and saurian companions:

- Children of Echoes: associated with Tepetlisaurs and canyons.
- Scions of the Canopy: associated with Yumkasaurs and steep cliffs.
- People of the Springs: associated with Koholasaurus and the coast.
HoYoverse also described traversal suited to those environments: tunneling and climbing, reaching high places, and moving across water and liquid Phlogiston. That official terrain and movement context helps explain why cave routes and vertical geography were prominent in map speculation, but it does not confirm the leaked settlement positions, cave count, or size comparison. How to use the leak claims today
The leak roundup is useful as a record of what players were told to expect before Version 5.0, not as an authoritative description of the released map. The evidence here does not establish a consistent, like-for-like area comparison between final Natlan and Sumeru’s Version 3.1 map, nor does it independently check each 2024 prediction against the released region.
