Genshin Impact downloads usually fail for one of five reasons: an unstable or restricted connection, insufficient temporary storage, damaged files, security software interference, or an unsupported device. Start with the least destructive fixes: check requirements and free space, change networks, restart the device and launcher, then use HoYoPlay’s Repair Now before considering a reinstall.
These steps apply to the PC HoYoPlay launcher, Google Play, the App Store, PlayStation and Xbox. A live server outage cannot be confirmed from the available support information, so do not assume the servers are down without a current official announcement.
Find the failure point first

HoYoverse notes that a bar reaching 100% can still be followed by resource verification: official download and installation guidance.
Try these five quick fixes
- Restart the device. This clears a stuck store, launcher process, or pending update.
- Restart the router and change networks. Try Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, another Wi-Fi network, or cellular data on a phone.
- Free substantially more space than the listed minimum. Downloads may need room for temporary archives, extraction, and verification.
- Exit HoYoPlay or the platform store completely. On Windows, also quit HoYoPlay from the system tray before reopening it.
- Repair existing files before deleting them. In HoYoPlay, open Genshin Impact’s options menu beside the launch button and choose Repair Now (the label may appear as Repair Game Files or a similar integrity-check option).
Check storage and compatibility
HoYoverse’s requirements page, checked November 11, 2025, lists these available-storage figures. They can rise with future updates, so treat them as a floor rather than a permanent buffer.

Read the full, changeable requirements at HoYoverse’s system-requirements page. Check the actual installation drive, not just a library shortcut. On Windows, inspect both the destination drive and the system drive used for temporary files. External, virtual, network, or otherwise unusual drives can also cause incorrect space readings; do not repartition or format one as a first step.
PC: fix HoYoPlay downloads
Repair the game files
- Open HoYoPlay and select Genshin Impact.
- Use the options control beside the main launch button.
- Select Repair Now or the equivalent file-integrity option.
- Let verification and repair finish, then restart HoYoPlay and retry.
HoYoverse recommends this for failed resource downloads and corrupted files: common errors and error codes.
Test network and security interference
- Pause and resume the download, restart the router, and try a wired connection.
- Temporarily disable VPN, proxy, DNS-filtering, traffic-inspection, or network-acceleration software for a diagnostic test.
- Check firewall and antivirus quarantine for removed HoYoPlay or game components.
- Re-enable protection immediately. If the installer is legitimate, add only the relevant official launcher or game folder as a narrowly scoped exception.
Do not download replacement DLLs or launchers from mirrors. If HoYoPlay itself will not install or update, HoYoverse advises redownloading its installer from an official source, closing background applications, updating Windows, confirming requirements, and restarting: HoYoPlay installation guidance.
Advanced slow-download workaround
Only after the checks above, consult HoYoverse’s current slow-download workaround. It involves exiting HoYoPlay, downloading the current sophon.dll component from that page, opening the launcher folder through the desktop shortcut’s Open file location, backing up the existing file, replacing it, and relaunching. Component versions and filenames can change; never use a third-party DLL.

- Compare the phone or tablet with the requirements and confirm Android 10 or later.
- Free space beyond the 40 GB minimum; 60 GB is HoYoverse’s recommended figure.
- Open Android settings, find Google Play Store, and clear its cache and data.
- Restart the device and retry the download.
- Reinstall Genshin Impact only if repair and store troubleshooting fail.
Clearing Play Store data can require signing in again or accepting store settings. If Google Play reports the device as incompatible, repeated reinstalls will not change that compatibility result. iPhone and iPad: App Store fixes
- Confirm the model and iOS/iPadOS version meet the current requirements.
- Check available storage, then restart the device.
- Open the App Store download queue, cancel the stalled item, and retry it.
- Check Apple account, payment, Screen Time, and regional store restrictions if the download button does nothing.
- Reinstall only after confirming that your progress is linked to the correct account and that you have the login details.
The retrieved HoYoverse guidance directs iOS users to reinstall through the official App Store when necessary, while the store-specific steps above are standard platform troubleshooting. Do not sideload an iOS package.

PlayStation and Xbox: console downloads
- Check free console storage against the current 150 GB figure for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Pause and resume the download in the console queue.
- Restart the console and router, and install pending console system updates.
- Use the platform’s own download repair or reinstall process if the required-resource package remains stuck.
- Do not delete saved data or account data merely to fix a content download.

Error-code fixes
9908: resource download or network failure
Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or restart the router. On PC, use Repair Now. On Android and iOS, HoYoverse recommends a full reinstall if repair does not resolve the error.

Disable VPN or proxy software, restart the modem or router, and try a wired connection.
9001: PC download failure
Use the launcher-repair executable described on HoYoverse’s current error-code page rather than an old direct-download link: error-code instructions.

Run file repair, inspect antivirus quarantine, and restore or allowlist the file only after confirming it is a legitimate game component. Reinstall HoYoPlay if repair fails.

At 100%, HoYoPlay may still be unpacking and verifying resources. If disk or CPU activity continues while network activity is idle, leave it running. If there is no network, CPU, or disk activity for a long time, a permissions or security problem is more likely. Avoid repeatedly deleting and restarting the installation; contact support if verification never completes.
Repair or reinstall?

A reinstall can consume a large amount of bandwidth and temporary storage and may erase reusable local files. Before deleting anything, verify account linkage and keep screenshots of the error.
