Its defining challenge is precise mouse movement—and the possibility of losing hard-won progress. It is available through PC and mobile storefront listings, though the sources cited here do not establish identical controls or features across versions.
What is Getting Over It?
In Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, you guide a character shown sitting in a pot up an enormous mountain using a hammer. The official Steam description calls it a “punishing climbing game” and a homage to Jazzuo’s 2002 B-game Sexy Hiking. Foddy’s description captures the intended challenge: “A game I made for a certain kind of person. To hurt them.” Steam game listing
The game’s store description also includes this advice from Jazzuo: “The hiking action is very similar to way you would do it in real life, remember that and you will do well”. The comparison is a wry hint about using the hammer to hook, push, and pull—not a promise that climbing will feel easy.
What do you use to climb in Getting Over It?
On PC, the Steam description says you move the hammer with the mouse. It says practice can enable you to jump, swing, climb, and fly. The basic task is to find leverage against the mountain with the hammer and use controlled movements to propel the pot-bound character upward.

How do you beat Getting Over It?
There is no guaranteed shortcut in the official description: the intended route is to learn the hammer’s movement and steadily climb. The game explicitly warns that you can lose progress repeatedly, making careful control and patience central to the challenge. A slip can undo part of a climb, so expect to recover and try again rather than treating each ascent as a one-way sequence.

- A BOLD NEW GAME FROM WE'RE NOT REALLY STRANGERS — with 150 ‘would you rather’ questions that you didn't know you needed to ask. Reveal sides of your friends, your partner, and yourself that you've never seen before.
- THREE CATEGORIES - Use the spinner to let fate decide which deck you pull a card from. Land on LIFE for the big questions, LOVE for relationship dilemmas, or for the answers nobody saw coming. With each conversation starter card, the conversations are guaranteed to go places you didn't expect.
- NO EASY ANSWERS - These questions might feel impossible to answer, and that is by design. Watching other players struggle to choose is half the fun, and the other half is learning more about them, whether you use it as a conversation card couple activity or with a whole group, based on their answers.
- THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE - Don't overthink it. Your first instinct is the most honest one. This game works best when you stop second-guessing and start saying how you really feel for a fun party game or a relationship card game.
- WHAT’S INSIDE - 150 unique ‘would you rather’ question cards divided into three categories, and 1 spinner.
Foddy’s Steam listing reports that the median finish time among his playtesters was five hours, while the mean was “closer to ∞.” That is a creator-reported, anecdotal statement about those playtesters, not a reliable estimate of how long a typical player will take.
