If Ghost Hunt will not complete after you photograph every spirit, the most likely problem is not the camera: the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch may have spawned somewhere in the main Valley instead of the haunted mansion. Confirm all 10 photographs, search every biome for the orange pouch, pick it up, and open it from Inventory. If it is missing, restart and update the game before escalating to Gameloft.
What Ghost Hunt is supposed to do
Ghost Hunt is a limited-time Haunted Floating Festival puzzle inside the haunted house. The objective is to use the in-game phone camera to photograph 10 ghosts. The tenth successful photograph completes the counting requirement and causes a Haunted Floating Festival Pouch to appear. Opening that pouch awards the Ghost furniture item.

The puzzle therefore has two separate milestones:
- Photo progress: ten ghosts have been captured by the camera.
- Reward processing: the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch has been collected and opened.
A camera sound, a disappearing camera prompt, or another completion cue can indicate that the tenth photograph counted without immediately displaying a finished objective. The reward container is the practical confirmation that the event has advanced.

A documented event bug can place the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch in the main Dreamlight Valley rather than inside the haunted house. It can appear in a biome unrelated to the mansion, so leaving the event area without seeing a reward does not prove that the final photograph failed.

Contemporaneous player reports describe the same pattern: all ghosts were photographed, a completion sound played or the camera interaction disappeared, and the pouch was later found in locations such as Frosted Heights, the Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, the Plaza, or near the player’s house. Those reports are useful clues, not a guarantee that every save will behave identically. In some reports the event only changed to completed after the pouch was picked up and opened.
Step 1: Verify that all 10 ghosts were photographed
Start with the objective itself. The documented requirement is 10 ghosts, not an unspecified number and not one photograph per room. A missed spirit in a side area can leave the puzzle genuinely unfinished, while the pouch bug can leave a finished puzzle looking unfinished.
- Return to the haunted house during the Haunted Floating Festival.
- Walk through every room and use the phone camera on each ghost.
- Include the cellar and any side rooms; do not rely on the main rooms alone.
- Keep a manual count as you go. Mark a ghost only after the camera registers the shot rather than after merely aiming at it.
- After the tenth registered photograph, leave the mansion and begin the Valley search described below.
If you can account for only nine photographs, continue searching the house before treating the problem as a bug. The final spirit may be in a less prominent room, and the event cannot award the pouch until the ten-photo requirement is met.
Step 2: Search the entire main Valley for the pouch
Once you have ten registered photos, search the ordinary Dreamlight Valley rather than only the haunted-house grounds. The pouch is described as orange and may be placed on the ground in any main-Valley biome when the event bug occurs.
Use a systematic route
- Leave the haunted house and start in the biome where your character normally appears or where the house is located.
- Move through every accessible biome, checking the entrances and open ground before crossing to the next area.
- Pay particular attention to Frosted Heights, the Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, the Plaza, and the area around your house because players have reported finding the pouch in those places.
- Inspect behind buildings, furniture, landscaping, ramps, bridges, and other objects that can hide a small ground item.
- Open Furniture Mode to get a wider view of the ground and to scan places that are difficult to reach or see from the normal camera angle.
Furniture Mode is a search aid, not a separate interaction required by the puzzle. Use it to move the viewpoint and check cluttered spaces; return to normal play mode when you find the pouch so it can be collected normally.

What the pouch looks like in this situation
Look for the orange Haunted Floating Festival Pouch, not a new ghost, a camera icon, or a generic quest marker. The reward can be far from the mansion, which is why repeatedly photographing the same room does not solve this particular failure state.
Step 3: Pick up and open the pouch
Finding the pouch is not the final action. Walk up to it and collect it, then open Inventory and use the pouch. Its contents are the Ghost furniture item.
- Interact with the orange pouch on the Valley ground.
- Open the Inventory screen.
- Locate the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch among the collected items.
- Use the inventory action to open it.
- Check the furniture collection for the Ghost item and return to the event objective to see whether the puzzle now registers as complete.
Community players specifically report that opening the pouch can be the state change that makes Ghost Hunt register. Treat that as a practical workaround observed in play, not as an official guarantee that the event will always update immediately. If the pouch opens and the Ghost furniture appears but the quest text remains stale, continue with the save-and-restart procedure.
Step 4: Save, reload, and install the latest update
If the pouch is not visible anywhere, or if opening it did not update the event, use the standard recovery sequence for quest-registration problems. This does not require a special camera, controller, computer utility, or purchased guide; all required interactions are in-game.
- Save the game and wait for the save indicator to finish.
- Exit to the title screen rather than immediately forcing the application closed.
- Fully close the game on your platform.
- Check for the latest Disney Dreamlight Valley update and install it if one is available.
- Launch the game again, load the affected save, and re-enter the event area.
- Check the haunted house once more, then repeat the main-Valley pouch search before taking additional photographs.
Restarting can refresh an object that failed to appear, while updating can apply a fix if the issue has been addressed in a later build. Do not assume that repeatedly taking photographs without saving and reloading will force a missing reward to spawn.

How to search efficiently when the Valley is decorated
A heavily decorated Valley can make a small orange pouch easy to miss. Search in passes instead of wandering randomly:
- Pass one—open ground: check paths, plazas, clearings, and the space immediately outside major buildings.
- Pass two—object edges: inspect the backs and sides of houses, stalls, trees, rocks, fences, and placed furniture.
- Pass three—your house and fast-travel areas: examine the ground around the player house and other places where you load into or routinely return.
- Pass four—Furniture Mode: use the elevated and movable view to look behind visual obstructions and along the edges of the biome.
Keep a written list of biomes as you check them. That prevents returning to the Plaza several times while overlooking a distant area. The reported bug does not identify one fixed destination, so a partial search is not enough to rule out the pouch.

Players have described hearing a completion sound or seeing the camera interaction disappear before locating the reward. These signs can mean that the tenth photograph counted, but they do not tell you where the pouch spawned or whether the inventory state has refreshed.
Use the number of registered photographs and the presence of the pouch as stronger checkpoints than a sound alone. A sound without ten photographs warrants another room-by-room count. Ten photographs without a pouch warrants the Valley search and, if necessary, the reload procedure.

Check Gameloft’s issue information before filing a ticket
Gameloft maintains Known Quest Issues and Known Issues pages. Check both after restarting and updating. The listing can change as event bugs are investigated, fixed, or replaced by a workaround.
If Ghost Hunt is not listed, or if the documented workaround does not restore the reward, submit a support ticket with enough detail for the team to identify the progression state:
- Platform, such as the console, computer, or mobile device used.
- Exact game version or build number.
- The number of ghosts photographed and whether the tenth shot produced a completion cue.
- Whether the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch appeared anywhere.
- Whether you picked up and opened the pouch, and whether the Ghost furniture item was awarded.
- The biomes searched, including whether you checked around the player house and used Furniture Mode.
- Screenshots showing the objective, Inventory, the reward, or the missing state.
These details distinguish a missed photograph from a misplaced pouch and from a quest-state synchronization problem. They also give support a reproducible account without requiring you to buy or install any external equipment.
What you do not need for this fix
- No physical camera is required; the puzzle uses the phone-camera interaction built into the game.
- No new controller is required.
- No PC utility, save editor, or third-party guide is part of the documented procedure.
- No additional purchase is needed to search for or open the event pouch.
Installing unofficial tools or altering a save can create a separate risk and will not correct a pouch that spawned in an unexpected biome. Use the in-game camera, Inventory, save/reload controls, and the official support route.
A complete recovery checklist
- Count the photographs and confirm that 10 different ghosts registered.
- Recheck every haunted-house room, including the cellar and side rooms, if the count is uncertain.
- Leave the mansion and search every main-Valley biome for the orange Haunted Floating Festival Pouch.
- Inspect around the player house and use Furniture Mode to reveal hidden ground.
- Collect the pouch and open it from Inventory.
- Confirm that the Ghost furniture item was added.
- Save, exit to the title screen, fully close the game, update it, and reload if the objective remains stale or the pouch is absent.

The key distinction is between photo completion and reward processing. Ten photographs satisfy the Ghost Hunt objective, but the event can appear stuck until the misplaced pouch is found and opened. When no pouch can be located after a complete search and restart, the remaining remedy is official issue tracking and support rather than more camera attempts.
