Its main catch is specific but important: a PlayStation account is required for Legends online multiplayer and the PlayStation overlay—not for the single-player campaign.
What’s included in the PC Director’s Cut?
The PC edition includes the full game, the Iki Island expansion, and Legends cooperative multiplayer. It launched on Steam and the Epic Games Store on May 16, 2024, according to PlayStation’s launch announcement.
Does Ghost of Tsushima on PC require a PlayStation account?
Only for the specified online and overlay features. PlayStation’s PC feature page states: “An account for PlayStation is required for Online Multiplayer (Legends Mode) and PlayStation overlay, subject to the PlayStation Terms of Service and User Agreement.” The single-player campaign can be played without using the overlay, so the account requirement does not prevent you from playing the story.
Legends and cross-play
Legends is the cooperative online mode. PlayStation says it supports cross-play with PS4 and PS5 players when a session is started by inviting PlayStation friends; see its Ghost of Tsushima PC support information. A PlayStation account is still required for Legends online multiplayer.

What makes this a PC-specific port?
The PC version offers unlocked frame rates and graphics options, plus support for DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3, and Intel XeSS. It also supports ultrawide, super-ultrawide, and triple-monitor setups, subject to compatible hardware and displays. These are listed features, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or uniformly smooth performance on every PC. Check the official PC feature list against your hardware before buying.
How can you play, and what does DualSense add?
Customizable mouse-and-keyboard controls are supported, as are controllers. DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers work on PC, but a wired connection is needed for the full range of controller features. A DualSense is optional; it is not required to play, and it does not remove the PlayStation account requirement for Legends. PlayStation lists these control details on its PC page.

Check how Legends is packaged on Steam
Nixxes’ Patch 8 notes describe Legends as a separate DLC on Steam and reiterate that a PlayStation account is required to play it. Because storefront packaging can change, check the live Steam listing to confirm whether Legends is included with your purchase or needs to be obtained separately. The PlayStation account requirement applies either way.
