Ghost of Yōtei is a PlayStation 5-only game released on October 2, 2025. There is no PS4 version, and the primary announcements do not identify an official PC release. Sucker Punch has not published a numeric completion-time estimate; its official FAQ says the answer depends on how you play and that following Atsu’s story while exploring everything will take “a great many hours.”
The downloadable content divides into three very different experiences: Echoes of Sekigahara, a story expansion; Most Wanted, a single-player bounty and combat-survival mode; and Ghost of Yōtei Legends, free cooperative multiplayer for owners of the game. This guide explains what each adds, which edition includes it, how difficulty works, and the accessibility settings available at launch and in later updates.

How long is Ghost of Yōtei?
There is no authoritative number of hours for the main game. Sucker Punch’s official FAQ deliberately answers, “That depends on you, the player.” It describes a vast world and says that reaching the end of Atsu’s story and discovering all the world has to offer will take “a great many hours.” That wording is the studio’s published guidance, not a hidden minimum or maximum.

Echoes of Sekigahara playtime
No primary source gives a separate hour count for Echoes of Sekigahara. The expansion alternates between the present and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland, including the Battle of Sekigahara, and introduces a new Ezo valley. Its scope is therefore best understood through its content and structure, not an unsupported number of hours.
Most Wanted playtime
Most Wanted is built around repeatable runs rather than a single campaign length. You accept bounties, begin a combat-survival attempt, earn perks, and unlock additional playable characters. Because runs can be replayed and developed differently, a fixed completion time would not describe how the mode is intended to be played. No official hour count has been published.
Which platforms support Ghost of Yōtei?
The game launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025, with support for PS5 Pro. Sucker Punch explicitly states that there is no PS4 version. The PlayStation description presents it as a standalone adventure set in 1600s rural Japan, developed by Sucker Punch and starring Atsu.
The primary materials for the release do not announce a PC edition. That means you should not plan around a PC version or assume that a later port exists unless Sony or Sucker Punch makes a separate, current announcement. PS5 and PS5 Pro are the confirmed platforms for the information covered here.
What does each Ghost of Yōtei DLC add?
Echoes of Sekigahara: the narrative expansion
Echoes of Sekigahara is the story-focused add-on. Its narrative moves between Atsu’s present-day journey and flashbacks to her time on the mainland. Those flashbacks include the Battle of Sekigahara, while the present-day portion opens a new Ezo valley to explore. Choose this DLC if you want more character and world-building rather than a separate arcade-style mode.

Most Wanted is a single-player combat-survival experience inspired by roguelike design. You take bounties, start a run, earn perks during that run, and unlock more playable characters as you progress. Its structure emphasizes repeated attempts, changing builds, and combat mastery. It is not a second linear campaign and should not be evaluated by the same playtime standard as Echoes of Sekigahara.

The four playable classes are Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. Higher difficulty challenges can award additional Legendary weapons and gear, giving experienced groups a reason to replay content after the initial missions.
Which edition includes the DLC?
The Complete Edition includes the base game, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, and Ghost of Yōtei Legends. The standard purchase gives you the core game; the Complete Edition is the package to choose when you want both solo add-ons as well as the free cooperative component.

The $69.99 and $14.99 figures were the prices announced with the Complete Edition, not a guarantee of the current price in every country or storefront. Compare the live upgrade cost with the current Complete Edition price if you already own the base game, particularly if a sale changes the difference.

Is Ghost of Yōtei Legends free, and do you need PlayStation Plus?
Legends is free for owners of Ghost of Yōtei; it is not presented as a separate paid expansion in the announcement. Online play still requires an internet connection, a PlayStation account, and an active PlayStation Plus subscription. The ownership and subscription requirements are separate: owning the game grants access to the DLC, while PlayStation Plus enables its online multiplayer features.
For a group session, make sure every participant has an internet connection and a PlayStation account, and that the account used for online play has the required PlayStation Plus access. Survival supports four players, Story is designed for two, and Incursions supports four after the relevant Story mission groups are completed.
How difficult is Ghost of Yōtei?
The Store lists Adjustable Difficulty (Advanced). Instead of forcing you to select one fixed preset, this system lets you customize the challenge or activate individual assists. That is useful when a player wants demanding enemy behavior but less punishing input timing, or wants combat help without reducing every other aspect of the game.
Settings and practice features
- Simplified quick-time events reduce the complexity of rapid input sequences.
- Practice mode lets you rehearse mechanics without treating every attempt as a high-pressure encounter.
- Control and tutorial reminders can keep prompts available when you need them.
- Game pausing and manual saving make it easier to stop safely or resume around a real-world schedule.
New Game Plus unlocks after you complete the main story. It adds harder difficulty options for a second playthrough, so finishing the campaign is the gateway to the more demanding settings rather than a requirement you must meet before adjusting the normal game.
What accessibility options are available?
The accessibility menus cover subtitles, visual information, combat feedback, input timing, controller behavior, and camera assistance. The exact list documented by PlayStation support and the Store includes the following.

Subtitle and visual presentation controls

- Large text improves readability.
- Enhanced Guiding Wind visibility makes navigation feedback easier to see.
- Wind Gust Camera provides an alternative way to receive directional guidance.
- A persistent center dot can help with visual reference and aiming.
- Offscreen detection indicators communicate threats or events outside the camera view.
- A high-contrast accessibility option was added in the October 1 patch documented with the Complete Edition announcement.
Combat and timing assistance
- Enhanced combat clues make attack, defense, or opportunity information more prominent.
- Custom combat difficulty allows granular adjustment instead of a single global preset.
- Simplified rapid-button sequences reduce the demands of repeated presses.
- Simplified quick-time events are available through the game’s assistance settings.
- The Zeni Hajiki shot-power display provides visible power information for that activity.
- Practice mode lets you learn or repeat actions with less pressure.
Controller and input alternatives
- Stick sensitivity can be adjusted, and stick axes can be inverted.
- You can enable play without holding buttons continuously.
- Rapid presses and simultaneous presses have alternative input options.
- Motion controls, vibration, and adaptive triggers can be configured.
- Forging controls can be changed from motion-sensor input to buttons.
- Directional-button remapping was added in a later New Game Plus update, along with other accessibility additions.
These options can be combined. For example, a player may use large text and subtitle backdrops for readability, remap directional buttons for a different controller layout, enable button-based forging, and select a custom combat profile with simplified sequences. The purpose of Adjustable Difficulty is to let you make those decisions independently rather than treating accessibility as one all-or-nothing mode.

If you are buying the game for the first time
Choose the Complete Edition if you already know you want the story expansion and the Most Wanted runs. It puts both paid-style additions and the free Legends component in one purchase. Choose the base game if you want to evaluate the main adventure first or if the current regional price difference makes adding the expansion later more sensible.
If you already own the base game
Check the live upgrade price in your region and compare it with the current Complete Edition price. The announced upgrade was $14.99 USD, but storefront pricing can change. You do not need to buy Legends separately: it is free for owners, although its online modes still require PlayStation Plus.
If accessibility is your deciding factor
The base game and its later updates provide the relevant difficulty, subtitle, visual, camera, and input controls. Look first at the specific setting you need—such as button-only forging, no-hold input, simplified rapid presses, subtitle colors, or high contrast—rather than assuming a broad difficulty preset will solve it.
