Find them across six regions, from the Yotei Grasslands to the Oshima Coast; one is inside an inn and costs 200 mon. The count is for the base game: PlayStation announced the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and its Ashoro Foothills region, but available location information does not confirm whether that expansion adds springs.
What do hot springs do in Ghost of Yōtei?
Bathing at a counted hot spring permanently increases Atsu’s maximum Health, as PlayStation’s Characters and combat page explains. The first spring also provides the Charm of Thoughtful Restoration, according to Gamer Guides; when equipped, the charm grows stronger with each subsequent spring.

Visiting all 16 base-game springs unlocks the Fundoshi armor, according to the Ghost of Yōtei map and collectibles summary. GameSpot says the armor makes running and sprinting quieter, but increases cold sensitivity in blizzards and snowstorms: GameSpot’s hot springs guide.
All 16 base-game hot spring locations
The regional counts are four in Yotei Grasslands, four in Ishikari Plain, two in Tokachi Range, one in Nayoro Wilds, three in Teshio Ridge, and two in Oshima Coast. The routes below follow the landmark and traversal directions in Gamer Guides’ walkthrough, updated 1 June 2026. Use them as navigation cues rather than a required sequence: access and the order you visit can depend on story progress.

Yotei Grasslands (4)
- Yotei’s Shadow: Near Shikotsu Woods. From Yotei’s Shadow Inn, cross the Sarubetsu River to the southwest; look for the spring on a hill overlooking a small lake. The Old Trails side quest takes you nearby.
- Horizon View: Along the southern edge, east of the map’s “Southern Coast” label. Travel south from Yotei’s Shadow Inn past Lake Kuttara. A Golden Bird leads down a cliff and across beams. The optional scene objective is to drink sake before bathing.
- Wild Clearing: Northeast of Yotei’s Shadow Inn, past an Altar of Reflection south of “Maw of the Serpent.” Follow the Golden Bird up the cliffs. The optional scene objective is to bow toward Mount Yotei.
- Hidden Cliff: At the northern edge near “The Road to Ishikari Plain.” From the garrison’s southern entrance, go southwest across the river, then climb, jump, and grapple up the cliffs. The optional objective is to light the lanterns outside.
Ishikari Plain (4)
- Bear Rock: In the middle of the region. Follow the Golden Bird around a cave and up to the plateau. Gamer Guides lists looking at Ishikari Castle with the spyglass as an optional objective.
- Kappa’s: In the open along the eastern edge, northeast of Ishikari Market and north of the “Ishikari Forest” map text.
- Smoky Mountains: At White Deer Woodlands in northern Ishikari Plain, just above “Deer” on the map. Climb the cliffs, jump onto branches, and grapple upward. Pulling weeds around the spring is an optional objective.
- Cloud View: At the northern edge. From the northeastern end of Rumoi River, follow the cliffs northwest, then climb and grapple between branches. Gamer Guides reports no bonus objective.
Tokachi Range (2)
- Quiet Valley: On a hill west of Nupur River. From the northwestern edge at Yubari Lake, follow the regional edge east. Playing a shamisen song before bathing is optional.
- Grassy Fields: On the northern edge, east or northeast of Master Yoshida’s Dojo. Cross Nupur River and head north of “Saru Plains.” The optional objective is to bathe at night under the stars.
Nayoro Wilds (1)
- Cave Path: West of Husko Kotan, near Ikidomari Grove. Follow the white flowers to a grapple point, climb to a cave, then take the uphill fork to the right. Drinking tea before bathing is optional.
Teshio Ridge (3)
- Red Crane Inn: On the southern edge beside Teshio River. At the inn, cross the entrance bridge and follow the trail left around the main building to the smaller bathhouse. The attendant charges 200 mon. Gamer Guides reports no bonus objective.
- Black Bowl: In the southwestern corner beside Snow Drift Springs Shrine. Climb the cliffs northwest of the “Crimson Forest” map text.
- Valley View: Northeast of Sarobetsu Lake, near Chilled Peak Shrine. Follow the snowy trail to a climbable cliff. Lighting the surrounding braziers with a torch is optional. Gamer Guides notes that this spring provides warmth in cold conditions.
Oshima Coast (2)
- Distant Castle: From the Oshima Coast Entrance, follow the northern boundary east. Squeeze through a cleft in the rocks, climb the ledges, and use the grapple.
- Cliff View: Along the eastern edge just south of “Shojin Hills.” The bridge is broken, so climb a nearby cliff to reach the spring. Gamer Guides reports no bonus objective.
Which baths count toward the 16?
Red Crane Inn counts even though it is a paid facility rather than an open-world pool. The bath at Kusarigama Sensei’s Dojo is different: it is quest-related and does not increase Atsu’s maximum Health or count toward the hot spring tally. GameSpot also distinguishes the dojo bath from the collectible springs in its location guide.
Gamer Guides describes several optional scene objectives, such as drinking sake or lighting lanterns. Those are separate from the basic spring reward; the documented Health increase comes from bathing at the counted spring.

Can you find missing springs after the story?
Yes. The map and collectibles summary says collectibles remain available in free roam after the story, so you can return to find base-game springs you missed: Ghost of Yōtei map and collectibles.
PlayStation announced Echoes of Sekigahara, an expansion introducing the Ashoro Foothills region, with patch v2.0 scheduled to roll out globally on 1 October 2026 and in some territories on 2 October. The announcement does not establish whether the expansion adds hot springs. Treat the list here as the 16 base-game springs, not a confirmed total for the expanded game.
