Is Ghost of Yōtei a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima?
It is a sequel in the broad sense of a later entry in the same series, but it is not a direct story sequel. Sucker Punch describes it as an evolution of the earlier game’s design and mythos rather than a continuation of Jin Sakai’s plot. The stories are separated by roughly 300 years, and the new adventure takes place in 1600s Ezo, in northern Japan. Sucker Punch’s FAQ calls the game “not a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.”

Who is the protagonist, and what is her story?
The new hero is Atsu, a mercenary pursuing the six outlaws known as the Yōtei Six, who killed her family. The revenge hunt is the story’s starting point, not its entire emotional destination: Sucker Punch frames the journey as one that reaches beyond vengeance toward healing and redemption. Jin Sakai does not appear in the main story.
What kind of game is Ghost of Yōtei?
It is a single-player action-adventure built around open-world exploration and combat. Players can choose which member of the Yōtei Six to pursue first, track bounties, seek out weapon sensei, and take part in both dangerous encounters and quieter activities. Atsu can also make campfires in the open world. The game supports PS5 DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers; Sony also describes PS5 Pro features including PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution and advanced ray tracing. What does the Complete Edition include?
The Complete Edition launched on PS5 on October 1, 2026, with patch v2.0 arriving globally that day and on October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. It includes the main game, Legends, the Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion, Most Wanted, Digital Deluxe content, and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Echoes of Sekigahara
This story expansion explores a new area and Atsu’s past. Its story moves between Atsu’s earlier experiences around the Battle of Sekigahara and the present in the Ashoro Foothills, according to Sucker Punch’s September 2026 update.

Most Wanted
Most Wanted is a single-player, roguelike-inspired combat survival mode. It features escalating bounties, perks and upgrades, and four playable characters, including Jin Sakai. This is where Jin becomes playable; it does not make him part of Atsu’s main-story narrative.
Legends
Legends is the game’s online co-op offering, with Survival, Story, and Incursion modes for up to four players. Online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus. Its inclusion in the Complete Edition does not mean the main campaign is a multiplayer story.

What changed for owners of the original game?
Owners of the base game can buy a Complete Edition Upgrade rather than repurchase the full edition. Sucker Punch announced a US price of $14.99 for the upgrade and $69.99 for the digital Complete Edition; these are announced prices, not a guarantee of the price currently displayed in every region. The studio also said a free patch for all owners adds Beauty of Yōtei mode, new Watanabe Mode tracks, a cosmetic/stat appearance option, and a high-contrast accessibility option. Which platform can you play it on?
Ghost of Yōtei is available for PS5 and supports PS5 Pro. Sucker Punch says it is not available on PS4. The official sources cited here do not announce a PC version, so there is no confirmed PC release date to give. The official FAQ covers platform availability.

The $69.99 Standard Edition figure is the US launch MSRP from 2025; it should not be compared as though it were a current offer. Sony’s US Collector’s Edition listing documents the physical items. Sony also announced a limited-edition Yōtei DualSense controller and PS5 console bundle, but neither is required to play.
How do you pronounce Yōtei, and how long is the game?
Sucker Punch gives the pronunciation as “Yo-tay.” It does not provide a fixed completion time: the open world includes optional characters, locations, and secrets, so playtime depends on how much of that content a player pursues. The FAQ addresses both questions.
