If Ghostrunner 2 crashes on your Windows PC, start with the reversible checks: compare your hardware with the published requirements, verify the installed game files, then test with lighter graphics settings and fewer background apps. These are troubleshooting steps—not guaranteed Ghostrunner II fixes. Reinstall only after the earlier checks, and back up your saves before removing local game data.
Before you start: note when and how the crash happens
Record whether the game closes during startup or gameplay, which storefront you use, your GPU and driver version, your Windows build, and any error text. Change one thing at a time and test again; that makes it easier to tell whether a step affected the problem.
1. Compare your PC with the published requirements
Steam lists these minimum and recommended specifications for Ghostrunner 2. They are the game’s published requirements, not a guarantee that it will run without crashes.

Compare your system with the Steam Ghostrunner 2 listing. Check that the drive has enough free space and is an SSD; Steam lists an SSD as required even at minimum specifications.

2. Verify the game files in your storefront
Missing or corrupted files can affect game performance. SEGA Support gives this as general PC troubleshooting guidance; it is not a Ghostrunner II-specific diagnosis. Use the verification or repair option in the client where you installed the game. Menu labels and paths can differ between storefronts and client versions, so follow that client’s current help instructions rather than guessing at a path.
3. Restart the PC and lower demanding graphics settings
Restart Windows, then test the game with less demanding settings. SEGA’s general PC guidance suggests reducing detail or shadow quality, lowering resolution, or trying windowed mode when performance problems occur. These changes may help isolate a stability issue, but they are not confirmed fixes for Ghostrunner 2.

4. Check for Windows and graphics-driver updates
Install available Windows updates and check for a current graphics driver through your GPU maker or PC manufacturer. Use the official update channel for your hardware. Avoid rolling back a driver based solely on an old issue report: Intel’s relevant note is dated and limited to a particular GPU family and graphics API.
5. Temporarily close background apps
Close nonessential applications and overlays, then test the game. SEGA’s general guidance recommends checking running software because third-party utilities can sometimes conflict with games. The available information does not establish that any particular app is a known Ghostrunner II conflict, so treat this as a way to isolate a possible cause rather than a diagnosis.

6. Disable mods for a test
If you use mods, disable them temporarily and launch the unmodified game. SEGA’s PC guidance recommends testing without mods when troubleshooting performance issues. If that changes the result, re-enable mods one at a time to identify whether one affects stability.
7. Test administrator permissions only if needed
If the earlier checks do not help and the game fails to start or run properly, try launching it with administrator permissions as a diagnostic step. SEGA’s general support guidance notes that permission problems can interfere with games. Do not make permanent permission changes as a default fix; return to the normal setting if the test has no effect.

8. Reinstall only after simpler checks
Reinstalling takes time and may not address a crash caused by drivers, software conflicts, or another issue. Before removing local game data, back up your save files. SEGA warns that deleting related files can remove saves. Then reinstall through the storefront where you own the game and test before restoring mods or other changes.

Intel’s release notes for graphics driver 31.0.101.4953, dated November 13, 2023, listed “Ghostrunner 2* (DX11) may experience sporadic application crash during gameplay” as a known issue for Intel Arc Graphics. This is a historical report specific to Intel Arc and DirectX 11. It does not establish that the issue remains current, affects other GPUs or APIs, or calls for a driver rollback.

When to contact 505 Games support
If the crash continues, Steam lists 505 Games as the game’s official support contact and gives [email protected]. Include the details you recorded—your PC specifications, storefront, Windows build, GPU driver version, exact error text, and whether the crash occurs at startup or during play. The 505 Games Ghostrunner 2 support index includes a specifications FAQ, but does not itself provide game-specific crash instructions.
