Gigantamax Inteleon is a Water-type Pokémon, so Grass- and Electric-type attackers are the natural counters. Pokebattler’s current counter list puts Gigantamax Rillaboom and Gigantamax Venusaur among its leading options, with Zapdos and Raikou also listed. Those rankings are useful starting points, not a guarantee: your best team depends on which eligible Max Pokémon you have, how much you have powered them up, and how your group handles the battle.
What is Gigantamax Inteleon weak to?
Inteleon is Water-type. Prioritize Grass or Electric attackers when choosing Pokémon for the battle. Pokebattler lists both types among its counter options, with Gigantamax Rillaboom and Gigantamax Venusaur leading the visible attacker entries, followed by options including Zapdos and Raikou: Pokebattler’s Gigantamax Inteleon counter list.
That list is a simulator ranking, not a promise that one Pokémon will outperform every alternative for every player. The Pokémon you can bring must also be eligible for a Max Battle, and investment in its level and Max Moves can affect how useful it is in your team.
What are the best Gigantamax Inteleon counters in Pokémon GO?
| Counter | Type | Why consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Gigantamax Rillaboom | Grass | Ranks first among the initial attacker entries shown by Pokebattler. |
| Gigantamax Venusaur | Grass | Ranks second among those initial attacker entries. |
| Zapdos | Electric | Listed as a counter option by Pokebattler. |
| Raikou | Electric | Listed as a counter option by Pokebattler. |
Use the table as a shortlist, then choose from the Max Pokémon you actually have available. If you are deciding between a stronger attacker and a more durable or supportive teammate, consider what your group needs: Pokebattler separates role-specific lists for attackers, defenders, chargers, healers, and shielders. Check its live role lists for current rankings rather than assuming an attacker ranking applies to every role.

How to build a team for the Max Battle
A Max Battle is not a standard raid with an unrestricted party. Each Trainer brings three Pokémon, and only Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon can participate; you need at least one Max Pokémon to enter. See the official Max Battle overview and Pokémon GO Help Center guidance.
- Choose eligible Pokémon first. Make sure your three party members are Max Pokémon. Among those, favor Grass or Electric attackers that you have invested in.
- Balance the group when needed. If your group already has damage covered, a durable defender or a support-oriented choice may be more useful than having every Trainer bring the same kind of attacker. The right balance depends on the available Pokémon and the group’s needs.
- Consider a Max Mushroom. This in-game item boosts the damage your Pokémon deal in Max Battles for 30 minutes; multiple Mushrooms can extend the duration. It is an option, not a requirement. Details are in the Help Center’s Max Battle guidance.
How to play the battle
Keep attacking to build energy and fill the Max Meter. Pokémon GO’s official overview says to tap for Fast Attacks and Charged Attacks as usual; attacking also fills the meter. Swipe toward battlefield energy to collect it and fill the meter faster. When Inteleon targets your Pokémon, dodge the incoming attack. Once the Max phase begins, it lasts three turns, so use the opportunity to make the most of your available Max Moves. The official Max Battle overview explains the core battle loop.

How many people do you need for a Gigantamax battle?
There is no fixed minimum stated here. The current worldwide rule allows up to 100 Trainers in one Gigantamax battle, arranged in groups of four or fewer. Pokémon GO announced that this expanded limit would remain in effect after the 2025 event: official Gigantamax battle update. A larger group can bring more players into the encounter, but each Trainer still uses a three-Pokémon Max Battle party.
What happens if your party faints?
If all three of your Pokémon faint, you cannot send another party into that same battle. You can still cheer for your allies, which helps them fill their Max Meters faster. That makes staying active useful even after your own team is out, especially in a group still working to defeat Inteleon. The Pokémon GO Help Center describes the rules for Max Battle parties and cheering.

Is Gigantamax Inteleon available now?
Availability depends on Pokémon GO’s current schedule. The 2025 Max Finale announcement included Inteleon as one of three Gigantamax choices in a specific Timed Research offer, but the claim and reward deadline passed in August 2025. That announcement does not establish a current return date: 2025 Max Finale announcement. Check nearby Power Spots and current official event announcements for a live opportunity to battle it.
