There are 14 Gleeok encounters listed across The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: four Flame Gleeoks, three Frost Gleeoks, three Thunder Gleeoks, and four King Gleeoks. The reliable combat loop is to evade their elemental attacks, hit all three eyes with arrows, then rush in for melee damage while the fallen Gleeok is down. King Gleeok adds all three elements and a high-altitude final phase that calls for Recall.

Gleeok locations in Tears of the Kingdom

The locations and approximate coordinates below come from game guides, not an official Nintendo enemy map. Use the landmark as your primary navigation cue. Coordinate readings differ slightly between guides, particularly for King Gleeoks; if a point does not match, compare it with the in-game map marker.

Flame Gleeoks

  • Rayne Highlands / Ancient Columns, Tabantha Frontier: approximately -3590, 0415, 0264. West of Tabantha Bridge Stable, near Makurukis Shrine.
  • Bridge of Hylia, Lake Hylia: approximately -0053, -2479, 0039, on the bridge south of Hyrule Field.
  • Spectacle Rock, Gerudo Highlands: approximately -2112, -2668, 0412, southeast of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.
  • Trilby Valley: approximately 2373, 0675, 0803, west of Upland Zorana Skyview Tower. The Gleeok may be flying over the valley or on the ground.

Frost Gleeoks

  • Biron Snowshelf, Hebra Mountains: approximately -3695, 3061, 0351, north of Rospro Pass Skyview Tower.
  • Gerudo Mountain: approximately -4008, -0978, 0718, north of Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower.
  • South Tabantha Snowfield: approximately -1779, 2945, 0239, north of Snowfield Stable.

Thunder Gleeoks

  • Coliseum Ruins: approximately -1153, -1264, 0092. The encounter is in the Coliseum/Aquame Bridge area.
  • Herin Lake South: approximately 1116, -3610, 0093, west of Joju-u-u Shrine.
  • South Akkala Plains: approximately 3417, 1305, 0343, east of South Akkala Plains Chasm.

King Gleeoks

King Gleeoks appear in the Depths and in the Sky. Guide coordinates vary noticeably, so the location names and map markers are more dependable than treating any one coordinate as exact.

  • Gleeok Den, Depths beneath Thyphlo Ruins: Thonky lists approximately 0188, 3122, -0623; Nintendo Life lists 0346, 3126, -0621.
  • West Hebra Sky Archipelago: Nintendo Life lists approximately -4470, 2175, 1252; Thonky lists -4462, 2260, 1282.
  • Gerudo Sky Archipelago: Nintendo Life lists approximately -4438, -2605, 1413; Thonky lists -4315, -2599, 1451.
  • Eventide Island Sky / Necluda Sky: Nintendo Life lists approximately 4652, -3827, 1064; Thonky lists 4602, -3667, 1102.

Prepare for the element and the terrain

A Gleeok fight is primarily a bow fight: you need to hit three separate eyes, so bring a bow and plenty of arrows. A strong or multishot bow can reduce the number of firing opportunities needed. For King Gleeok, Nintendo Life specifically suggests options such as a Lynel Bow or Royal Guard’s Bow.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - For Nintendo Switch 2
  • Enhanced performance and visuals exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Explore the skies, caves, and vast lands of Hyrule in a massive open-world adventure.
  • Wield new and returning abilities to craft solutions, vehicles, and weapons.
  • Discover the mystery behind the spreading gloom threatening the kingdom.
  • Use the ZELDA NOTES app to share, compare, and earn daily bonuses.
  • Match protection to the enemy: cook healing meals and prepare elemental-resistance food or elixirs for the variant you are facing. Armor can help against lightning and the hot or cold conditions around a fight.
  • Use cover: pillars, ledges, and other terrain can break line of sight and give you safer chances to set up a shot.
  • Make aiming easier: Keese eyeballs attached to arrows home toward targets, making them useful when landing precise eye shots is difficult.
  • Look for height: a ledge, pillar, or other elevation can provide an airborne slow-motion bow window.

How to beat a standard Gleeok

  1. Avoid the elemental attack. Move out of the attack path and use nearby terrain as cover when possible.
  2. Get airborne and draw your bow. Jump or glide from elevation to trigger slow-motion aiming. Target the eyes; use Keese eyeballs if a precise shot is proving difficult.
  3. Hit all three eyes. The Gleeok falls when all three heads have been hit. Keep enough arrows for the full set of targets.
  4. Close in while it is down. Run to the fallen Gleeok and deal melee damage during the knockdown opening.
  5. Pull back and repeat. Return to cover or height for another bow opportunity, healing or refreshing protection if needed.

How to beat King Gleeok’s final phase

King Gleeok combines fire, ice, and lightning attacks, so watch for the change in attack type rather than relying on one elemental defense. Use the same three-eye knockdown loop during the earlier part of the fight.

After taking substantial damage, King Gleeok rises much higher than a standard Gleeok. Nintendo Life’s guide recommends using Recall on debris the King throws down, riding the recalled debris upward, then drawing your bow in midair for a slow-motion shot at the heads. This creates a way to reach the target during the unusually high final phase.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Standard - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]
  • Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
  • Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
  • Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
  • Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.

King Gleeok rewards and Sage’s Wills

Nintendo Life lists King Gleeok rewards as Gleeok Frost Horn, Gleeok Wings, Gleeok Flame Horn, Gleeok Thunder Horn, and Gleeok Guts. Its guide says three of the four King Gleeoks are tied to the search for Sage’s Wills. These reward details apply to King Gleeoks; they should not be assumed to describe every Gleeok variant.

Sources and scope

The locations and combat guidance here are based on Nintendo Life guides published August 10 and August 15, 2023, and Thonky’s undated consolidated location list. Thonky’s list counts 14 Gleeoks in total; that is a guide enumeration, not a statistic published by Nintendo. The guides agree on the four broad King Gleeok regions, but their coordinate points differ. Nintendo’s official product page verifies the game and platform context, not these enemy locations or tactics.
