Glorious Model O 2 Review: A Better Original, Not a Reinvention

The Model O 2 improves the original’s hardware without reinventing its low-profile shape. Here’s how its 59 g wired and 68 g wireless versions differ, and who should buy one.

Verdict: The Glorious Model O 2 updates the original’s low-profile, right-handed symmetrical shape with a newer sensor, revised main-button design and grippier surface, but it is an evolution rather than a new kind of gaming mouse. The wired model is the lighter, lower-cost pick for FPS and general gaming; the wireless model adds 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth convenience for a higher price, more weight and battery upkeep.

This review covers both standard-size versions: the 59 g Model O 2 Wired and the 68 g Model O 2 Wireless. Glorious’s U.S. store lists them at $64.99 and $99.99 respectively; those are store list prices, not guaranteed sale prices or prices in other regions. If you already own a working original Model O, the changes alone may not justify replacing it. If you are buying fresh and like this shape, the wired O 2 is the more compelling value—unless a newer alternative is similarly priced and fits you better.

Model O 2 at a glance

  • Best for: Players who want a lightweight, low-profile mouse with a symmetrical shell and six buttons, especially for FPS and general gaming.
  • Avoid if: You need a true left-handed layout, a tall palm-filling hump, extra side buttons, a solid shell, or 4K/8K polling.
  • Wired edition: 59 g, USB connection, 1,000 Hz maximum polling; $64.99 U.S. store list price.
  • Wireless edition: 68 g, 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.2 LE and wired operation; $99.99 U.S. store list price.
  • Original Model O upgrade: A useful spec and control refresh, but not a must-buy replacement if your current mouse still works and suits your grip.

Specs and prices are from Glorious’s wired product page, Model O collection, and its 2022 launch announcement. Prices are U.S. store signals and can change with region, stock, color and promotions.

Which Model O 2 is this review about?

The standard Model O 2 comes in wired and wireless editions. They share the same basic shell, but the wireless mouse is 9 g heavier and costs $35 more at the current U.S. list prices. The wireless version can connect by 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.2 LE or USB; the wired version has no battery to charge and tops out at 1,000 Hz polling.

Glorious Gaming Model O 2 Wireless Gaming Mouse - Hybrid 2.4GHz & Bluetooth Wireless, 68g Superlight, Long Battery Life, 26k BAMF 2.0 Sensor, RGB, Ambidextrous, 6 Buttons, PTFE Feet - White
  • Lightning fast: Built with hybrid 2.4GHz wireless & Bluetooth connectivity, the Model O 2 Wireless has blazing fast performance, and the ability to swap seamlessly between the two modes via a flip switch on the bottom of the mouse. Get 110 hours of highspeed gaming in 2.4GHz mode, or get 210 hours of use on Bluetooth 5.2 LE* (*measured with RGB off).
  • Next Generation Sensor: Built for blazing fast speeds, the BAMF 2.0 Sensor features 650 IPS tracking, 50G acceleration and up to 26,000 DPI resolution to give you the highest degree of reliability and control. With Motion Sync, you get the most precise mouse tracking ever plus perfectly synced mouse and cursor movements.
  • 68g Superlight Speed: Built to be lower weight than the Original Model O Wireless, Model O 2 Wireless packs an even better package in its 68g frame, making it easier than ever to track targets with precision. Less weight, more control.
  • Consistent Clicks: New split-button design, combined with our custom Glorious Switches rated for 80M clicks, means a crisp, reliable click experience no matter where you press. Designed to prevent pre- and post-travel movements, your fingers will always be met with crisp tactility and the highest responsiveness.
  • Optimized design: The Model O 2 Wireless has been updated with smaller shell holes for improved strength and comfort. It also features a new grippy surface texture which helps keep the mouse under control. The ambidextrous shape makes it versatile for claw, palm, and fingertip grip styles for gamers with medium to large hands.

Do not confuse either one with the Model O 2 Mini, a separate, smaller shell, or the Model O 2 PRO, a different wireless product line with enthusiast-oriented performance options. The Model O3 is a newer-generation alternative, not another name for the O 2. Glorious’s current Model O collection and mice collection show the broader family.

What changed from the original Model O?

Glorious kept the recognizable low-profile, symmetrical six-button layout. The changes are targeted rather than a complete redesign: a BAMF 2.0 optical sensor replaces the older sensor generation commonly associated with original Model O reviews, and Glorious revised the main-button hinge, surface finish, side walls and feet. The wireless edition also adds Bluetooth alongside 2.4 GHz and wired operation. Glorious outlined the new family in its launch announcement.

Sensor: newer specifications, familiar priorities

Glorious lists the BAMF 2.0 sensor with a maximum of 26,000 DPI, 650 IPS tracking speed, 50G acceleration and Motion Sync support through Glorious CORE. Those figures describe capability; they do not establish that the O 2 will improve your aim. Most players will never use anything close to 26,000 DPI. Consistent tracking, a comfortable shape, dependable clicks and a cable or wireless connection that suits your setup matter more in regular play. RTINGS’ Model O 2 review provides an independent overview, but the listed maximum DPI alone is not a practical performance verdict.

Weight, buttons and surface

The wired version is listed at 59 g, while the wireless model is 68 g. The difference reflects distinct products, not a measurement inconsistency: the wireless model includes radio and battery hardware. Glorious says its redesigned split-button and hinge aim to reduce pre-travel and post-travel. The switches carry an 80-million-click rating; treat that as a rated lifecycle, not a promise that every mouse, cable or scroll wheel will last that long.

GLORIOUS Model O Eternal Ultralight RGB Gaming Mouse - Wired - 55g Lightweight - Customizable RGB Lighting - 6 Programmable Buttons - Symmetrical Design - 12K DPI Optical Sensor - PC/Mac - Black
  • 55g Ultralight Weight: Up to 35% lighter than competitors, thanks to our signature honeycomb shell that reduces weight without compromising comfort or durability. Enjoy faster swipes, precise stops, and effortless control in fast-paced games.
  • Highly Versatile Shape: Hold it your way—whether you’re gaming or just getting things done, the symmetrical design ensures your grip always feels natural and secure.
  • Dual-Zone RGB Lighting: More than just a glowing logo, dual RGB zones flood the mouse's flared side panels with vibrant color. Instantly customize with quick button shortcuts or fine-tune to perfection using Glorious CORE software.
  • 80-Million-Rated Mechanical Switches: Precise and durable, delivering crisp clicks through countless matches without double-clicking issues.
  • 6 Remappable Buttons: Map your go-to equipment, abilities, and shortcuts exactly where they feel right with Glorious CORE software, keeping your actions seamless in-game and beyond.

Glorious also describes a grippier coating and revised side walls intended to reduce accidental contact with the main buttons. Those are useful design goals, but the available evidence does not establish long-term coating durability or how the shell behaves under every grip and amount of hand pressure. The honeycomb openings remain part of the design, so buyers who prefer a closed shell should look elsewhere.

Feet and cable

The wired edition has 100% PTFE G-Skates and a 2 m Ascended cable. Glorious describes the cable as close to wireless in feel, but that is a design claim rather than an independently verified result. Cable drag depends on desk height, port position, mouse-bungee use and the pad. On a fast cloth surface the low weight and PTFE feet may feel quick; a hard pad can make that speed harder to control, depending on preference. Feet can also feel different as they break in.

Shape and grip: the most important reason to buy or pass

The O 2 has a right-handed symmetrical shape: the shell is broadly symmetrical, but the side-button arrangement is not equally usable from either hand. It is a standard-size, low-profile mouse with six programmable buttons—left and right click, clickable scroll wheel, two side buttons and a DPI control. Glorious lists palm, claw and fingertip grips as supported styles and particularly positions the low profile for claw and fingertip use.

  • Consider it if you have medium-to-large hands and prefer a low, broad shell, a low rear hump or room for fingertip adjustments.
  • Try the Mini instead if the standard shell feels too large or the side buttons are difficult to reach. Hand size alone cannot guarantee fit; grip style and preferred button reach matter too.
  • Look elsewhere if you want a tall, palm-filling hump, a left-handed button layout, more than two side buttons or no holes in the shell.

“Symmetrical” describes the shell outline, not universal comfort. If possible, check the shape in person or compare its dimensions and contour with a mouse you already find comfortable before ordering.

How it performs for gaming

FPS

At 59 g, the wired O 2 is light enough to make rapid repositioning feel less effortful than with a heavier mouse, though that preference is personal. The low profile and two side buttons suit a straightforward FPS layout. Players using low sensitivity should pay attention to cable behavior over broad swipes; a bungee or careful cable routing can help manage drag, but it does not turn a wired mouse into a wireless one.

The sensor’s headline specifications are comfortably high on paper, but the evidence here does not establish a measured latency advantage over the original Model O or current rivals. Nor does it establish that the wireless version is just as fast as wired in every mode and firmware configuration. For buying purposes, comfort, stable control and click feel are more useful questions than maximum DPI.

Other games and polling rate

Six buttons cover common game shortcuts and everyday use, but are limiting for MMO players who rely on many thumb bindings. Scroll-wheel feel and side-button placement may matter more in those games than sensor ceiling. RGB lighting is cosmetic, not a performance feature.

The wired model’s maximum polling rate is 1,000 Hz. That is adequate for conventional gaming, but not the choice for someone specifically shopping for 4K or 8K polling. Glorious lists an O 2 PRO 4K/8K product in its Model O collection; verify the current model, included receiver and availability before buying. Higher polling is not an automatic aim improvement and is most relevant to enthusiasts with high-refresh displays who want to tune for it.

Wired or wireless: which version should you choose?

Glorious claimed up to 110 hours over 2.4 GHz and up to 210 hours over Bluetooth in its launch announcement. These are manufacturer maximum claims, not independently measured battery results; actual runtime can vary with use and settings. The wireless model is not automatically the better buy: choose it for the freedom and Bluetooth option, not because wireless is inherently an upgrade.

Independent comparison coverage treats the two standard editions as the same basic shape with different weight and connectivity: see RTINGS’ wired-versus-wireless comparison.

Glorious CORE, profiles and operating systems

Glorious says CORE is optional for basic mouse operation. Its configuration features include button remapping, DPI stages, lighting, debounce settings, sensor behavior and Motion Sync; the wired product page lists three custom onboard profiles. The product page also lists Windows, macOS and Linux compatibility, but that should not be read as a guarantee that CORE offers the same configuration features on every operating system. A customer review on Glorious’s page reports needing Windows 10 to change keys and lighting; that is an individual report, not a controlled compatibility test.

If you need custom settings on a non-Windows computer, configure the mouse on a Windows installation where CORE is available, save the profile to onboard memory, then connect it to the target system and check what persists. Confirm the current CORE and firmware support information with Glorious before relying on a particular setting or software feature; exact menus and platform support can change.

Reliability, warranty and troubleshooting

Glorious’s product-page review summary includes customer anecdotes about cable-related disconnects and one unit that reportedly began flickering and disconnecting after roughly five months; the customer said support supplied a replacement. These reports do not establish how frequently failures occur. The same page lists a two-year warranty and 45-day returns for the direct U.S. product offer. Read the current terms, exclusions and regional policy, especially if buying from a retailer rather than Glorious directly.

If a wired mouse disconnects, flickers or changes DPI unexpectedly

  1. Try a different USB port and connect directly to the computer, removing hubs and front-panel extensions from the test.
  2. Test on another computer to see whether the symptom follows the mouse.
  3. Check whether moving the cable near its connector triggers the problem; do not assume that replacing a cable is the right first step if the mouse may still be under warranty.
  4. Use Glorious’s current support process for any CORE or firmware update, and contact support if the fault persists.

Glorious’s page contains the customer reports noted above, but no verified failure-rate data. Its product page is the source for the listed warranty and returns information.

If CORE does not detect the mouse

  • Connect the mouse directly and restart CORE with it attached.
  • Check current software and firmware compatibility through Glorious support.
  • Do not interrupt a firmware update.
  • Check whether the mouse still works with its saved onboard settings; use support if it becomes unusable.

The available product information does not establish a complete recovery procedure, so follow Glorious’s current support instructions rather than applying an unverified reset sequence.

If the wireless version drops its connection

  • Position the receiver near the mouse and away from a metal PC chassis or a congested cluster of wireless devices.
  • Test 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth separately, then compare with wired operation.
  • Check whether the problem occurs only at low battery and record firmware and polling settings before drawing conclusions.

Historical user discussion is not enough to establish that current retail units share an old wireless or firmware fault; diagnose the specific mouse and connection instead.

Is the Model O 2 worth upgrading from the original Model O?

If your original Model O remains reliable and its shape suits you, the O 2 is not a transformational upgrade. The newer sensor, redesigned button hinge, coating and feet are real specification and design changes, but they do not prove a dramatic improvement in everyday aim. Replacing a working mouse makes more sense if you want the wireless edition’s Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz options, need a fresh unit, or specifically prefer the revised details.

For a new purchase, compare the price you can actually get with the O 2’s shape and your connection preference. The O 2 is a sensible pick if you already know you like the Model O form; if you are unsure, shell fit should outrank an impressive DPI figure or brand familiarity.

Model O 2 alternatives in Glorious’s current range

Alternative U.S. list-price signal Consider it when
Model O 2 Mini Wired or Wireless $64.99 wired; $99.99 wireless You want a smaller shell; it is a shape choice, not simply a performance upgrade.
Model O 2 PRO Series Wireless $99.99 You want the separate enthusiast-oriented wireless line; check current specifications and stock.
Model O 2 PRO 4K/8K $129.99 You specifically want higher polling and are prepared to pay for that positioning.
Model O3 Wired or Wireless $69.99 wired; $159.99 wireless You want to compare the newer generation. The listed price alone does not establish that it is better for your grip.
Model O Eternal Wired $39.99 Lower price is the priority and you do not require the O 2’s revised design and sensor positioning.

These are listed-price signals observed on Glorious’s U.S. Model O collection and mice collection, not guaranteed stock or sale prices. For brands outside Glorious, choose by measured performance and shape fit rather than comparing model names or DPI ceilings alone.
